Stinky Shoes...How to get rid of that smell
Last week our basement filled up with water twice... And the tennis shoes I wore to clean up the mess, smell horrible.
I left them out to dry and have washed them once.. But they still smell so bad I had to leave them out side.
Any suggestions? I really don't want to throw them away, they are pretty new and in good shape.. But that smell EKK.. Sorry for grossing everyone out.

Thanks! I will try washing them and sun drying them.
I have cute zebra rain boots, but half my stuff is still at my mom since we aren't move in yet.. I think I am going to make sure they go next round.
You can make up some baking soda and scrub them down, I pour BS in my shoes when I don't wear socks w/ them, typically my work shoes.
We had this happen to our basement too! So I feel ya!
When I'm trying to salvage my H's stinky shoes, I'll soak them in the washing machine for an hour or two with detergent, water and vinegar. I'll also add a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle.
If it's an especially resistant smell, sometimes I have to pour vinegar straight into the shoe after washing, making sure to get under the insole and in all the nooks and crannys.
