Wedding gift question?

This summer I went to my cousin's ultra amazing wedding http://www.couturecolorado.com/blog/2010/10/19/wedding-venue-aspen-co/ & http://www.couturecolorado.com/blog/2010/10/19/aspen-colorado-wedding-venue/ my daughter is the flower girl :)

This was my cousin's second wedding and I still haven't gotten her a gift.  I don't have a ton of money to spend and in my head I feel like it's better to give nothing than a super lame gift.  Is attending the destination wedding enough?  Do I get her something?  Is this okay http://www.etsy.com/listing/61231418/latitude-longitude-coasters?ref=v1_other_1?  Any other ideas?

I probably have a bad attitude because it was a very costly wedding to attend (flower girl dress alone was $200), plus we had 3 events to dress my family for while we were in Aspen.  They had a rehearsal dinner, a soiree, and then the wedding.  It was a lovely event and I feel lucky that we were even able to go but Aspen is expensive for my family (I can't event imagine what the wedding cost).

Gah - wish I had tons of money and trips like that were an annual occurrence!  Or even every 5-10 years.

Re: Wedding gift question?

  • i think the lat/long coasters are cool! and personally, i think that having your daughter in the wedding, paying for her dress, traveling there with your family, that's enough. Maybe get the coasters and add in a bottle of something yummy? i can't remember what the rules on shopping booze are...

I completely agree with this!  If you feel like you have to buy something, I think the coasters are a cool idea and something that I would have liked as a gift.

That looks like it was one fabulous wedding!

  • Cool wedding.  I think you'd be safe with something small.

  • I like those coasters! Unique. I highly doubt the couple expects much of a gift or a gift at all for that matter. (Well at least I would hope not!) I'm sure what really mattered to them is that you were able to be there to share in their special day.

  • thank you!

I'm going to order the coasters - I wasn't sure if it was "good enough".  I love the idea of a bottle of wine too!

Her first wedding was at a private club in Chicago and it was black-tie so DH had to rent a tux!  That was pre-kids and I think I spent a couple hundred for a gift - that was then...

  • What a beautiful wedding!  And yeah, I agree the coasters are a great idea.  I don't think you need to give more than that since it was a DW and your daughter was involved.
