So, I sort of wish that when I was 18 I had been more interested in college and less interested in beer, boys, and beauty routines. I might try to make up for it a little now.
Starting in mid-January Fallin and I are going to try the The American Novel Since 1945 course from Yale. We're planning to listen to one lecture a week, do the reading assigned, and have some sort of discussion forum set up. (probably a message board and a chat session or two if timing works). I will have to look at the practicalities of how to set the discussions up.
Also, I want to play it somewhat by ear and adjust how we handle the class and the readings and discussion so that it remains doable. Recognizing people have jobs, families, other things they want to read and do. So who wants to join us? Leave a comment or email me at modb1rd at gmail.com and I'll start organizing it.
Re: Want to take an Open Yale Course about the modern American novel with Fallin & Mod
Um, that sounds awesome.
BTW, are you still interested in Book Expo America in May? I am so down. I mentioned it to my boss and I might be able to get work pay for me.
I bet her FUPA's name is Shane, like the gunslinger/drifter of literature.--HappyTummy
I think I would enoy that also.
I'm having another surgery in January and will be basicly stuck here, with crutches, for 12 weekw solid. I could go BSC so I should look into something interesting to keep me occupied.
I was discussing a foreign language course with M yesterday, several of them can be done from home.
Sorry, Judge Judy and Dr. Phil just don't do it for me.
I'll be a maybe. I may have too much going on but I'd love to join you guys if I have time.
I may have to skip The Known World, though. I couldn't make it through that book. Awful.
The nerve!
