do you stop giving "kids" gifts? DH has a 22 year old brother that still lives at home. I feel like he's an adult and should get an adult gift (ie, less expensive) than the other kids. And he has an 19 year old sister that still lives at home too. I'm kind of at a loss at what to give them, except cash which seems impersonal. Maybe gift cards?
His youngest sister is really into baking and loves the "Cake Boss" show, so I'm getting her the Cake Boss cookbook. I think she'll like that!

My sister is the only sibling who has children. This year I will buy our niece a gift but not for my sister and BIL ( sister knows this, she suggested it )
I do not buy my ( estranged ) brother a gift, but that is a totally different story.
H still buys his 27 year old brother a gift, which I think is stupid. His brother still lives at home and mooches off of their mom.
For my sibs and in-laws, we always give each other gifts. I think I spend the same amount of money on the adults as on my niece and nephew.
Do you have very young siblings or siblings-in-law? I wouldn't consider someone a kid just because they live at home. I would consider them adults after they graduate from high school, maybe before.
Ok, maybe I should rephrase what I'm asking. We still get them gifts. I don't consider the 22 year old a kid, but I guess I kind of still consider the 19 year old one. But that's because I've known her so long it's hard to see her as an adult.
I'm not trying to get out of giving them gifts period, I just typically spend more money on the kids in my family and less on adults. Christmas is more about the kids in my family.
I don't exchange gifts with my brothers, who are both older than me. We always just bought presents for my nephews and niece. My oldest brother and SIL used to get me gifts until I was in college, but that's because they got married when I was 5. So I was still a "kid" in the family.
So do you think that they'll even notice if I transition from "kid" sized gifts to "adult" sized gifts, ie gift cards, or something small. And what would you suggest for a 22 yr old and 19 yr old college student still living at home besides cash? We're on a tight budget so I'm trying to keep things simple.

I really don't think they would notice if you transition them, but I don't have any suggestions...
Yea, Im thinking cash or a GC for the 22 year old or something that he would like. Im having a hard time trying to decide what to get my 15 year old brother. I think he's at "that" age. I have no idea what he wants!
I think his sister would love the cookbook that you are getting her!!
BIL is four years younger than DH and we have always treated him as an adult, even though when DH and I started dating he was 16/17.
I don't think they'll notice if you give them adult gifts. In our family, we stopped getting birthday gifts/having family birthday parties from my aunt after 18.
Oh, and get the 22 yr old a book on finding your own apartment... I mean really.
(Half joking, no flames plz)
No, I completely agree. He doesn't pay for anything and recently just took a trip to Vegas. MIL was like "how about if you help out with groceries then?" He works two jobs plus goes to college so his excuse is that he's never there so he shouldn't have to pay for anything. He's a good kid, I think MIL and FIL are just to lenient.
Oh and DH has 2 younger sisters, the cookbook is for the youngest who is still in high school. She really has a passion for making cakes, and even started making her own fondant so I'm trying to encourage that. Then 19 yr old doesn't seem to have any real interests and her two favorite sayings are "I don't care" and "I don't know". She's really hard to shop for!

How about this for her?

This is hilarious! I'm going to email it to DH to see what he thinks.
