venting letter to a puppy..

Dear puppy,

I hear you crying, and I'm not responding because 1) I dont want you to learn crying is how you get attention and 2) I want you to shut up and go to sleep. Screaming louder isn't going to get you anywhere. I realize the first night away from your brothers and sister is hard, and scary. But you've been crying since 5pm. It's midnight. You should be worn out, and passed out by now. Your momma also got fixed today, she was under for 45+ minutes, you were under for ten. She had massive vessels and I'm worried about her low temp, and possible internal bleeding. Your excessive screaming is not helping my already high stress level... or my hormones!

To sum it up, you need to just shut the fvck up and go to sleep. And preferably stay asleep until tomorrow morning. And if you could not pee and poo all over your little puppy habitat for the night.. that'd be great also.

Thanks,
Your Foster Mom

My overly happy baby girl!

  • Right there with ya. Daisy just went to bed and was fine going in the crate. All of a sudden she is WHINING. All because she can hear me upstairs. Grrrr. Go to sleep!!!

  • Yeeah, so 3am rolled around, the puppy "Remi" still hadn't shut up. I was so mad, and stressed. I was worried he would stress out Sasha (who's still bleeding this am) and just make things worse for her. Then I got worried that it was too many "bad emotions" for Baby Mo. Lol, it sounds silly now.

I called Dh, he was working last night, bawling cause I didn't know what to do. I had tried crating, he screamed, I made a make shift kennel and if I put my hand on him and petted him he still would cry. There was no calming him.So Dh came home and took the puppy back to the department with him, and kept him in a holding cell all night, where he could cry to his hearts content and no one would hear him. And of course he stopped after about 20 minutes and passed out for the night. haha, oh well...

It probably wouldn't have been so bad if I had slept yesterday. But I took a red-eye flight home, and only had three hours of sleep, and worrying about momma dog... ugh, I could've given him shaken puppy syndrome last night. I realize that sounds terrible since I'm pregnant... lol I'm not a violent person, hence the calling Dh instead of banging puppy head against the wall to give him a concusion to shut him up....

  • Sadie cried for hours when we first brought her home.  OMG it was heartbreaking.

The only thing that worked to keep her in her crate was to put it right next to the bed on DH's side.  Then she would sleep.

But those first 2 nights before we realized what to do were miserable.

  • Neither of our two dogs we've had from puppies ever cried for hours. Maybe 5 minutes, but not like last night. This pup has been a ridiculous cry baby since the day he was born, it's just who he is. Luckily, he's going to his forever home this morning. Whooo!!

OMG Mar that sucks, but you cracked me up a little too.

When I brought Lilly home she howled, all, night, long. In the end it had just been her and her brother when I picked her up he started howling when I took her from the car. It was hearbreaking, but $hit I've never heard Pom's or chihuahua's howl like that. Crying is a different bag of chips the howling actually made me laugh most of the time and seemed to tire her out quicker than the crying. Rencently when she had a cough and it was taking forever to get  better I cried several times because I couldn't sleep when she was coughing.

I hope you get a rest in today and the puppy figures out the crying is pointless.
