I made my first topsy turvy cake today! It was for my niece's best friend (she's turning 8). She just wanted a pink and purple present so I decided to have some fun with it.
No one knew what I was doing with it. It was really hard not to tell my SIL.
I sprayed it with a pearl sheen using my airbrush, too! The girls screamed when they saw it and that's my favorite part of making cakes!

It was chocolate with homemade marshmallow cream filling (and yes, my tummy is better after eating "real" food)
ETA: sorry for the pic size and lack of paragraphs. I'm posting from my phone! I FIXED IT!!! =D
Re: AW! (topsy turvy cake)
hahaha me too! love to bake but i always get crumbs in the icing!
i would have screamed if that cake got delivered to me too! awesome!
A lot of my decorating work is self taught. I did go to culinary school but as far as my cake decorating class was concerned, I learned how to cover a cake (with fondant) and do a bit of sugar flower work.
The rest is just trial and error. She said pink and purple present and this is what I came up with! Most people tend to give me creative freedom, which is nice.
And Thanks ladies!!! I'm pretty proud of it! My bows are getting a lot better and doing a topsy turvy cake wasn't quite as difficult as I thought it was going to be!
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
