Is there any saving my moldy laundry?

Gross I know.  I had a few damp things in the dirty clothes and the laundry's been backed up for a week or so.  I noticed black spots on a few items.  They've gone through 2 wash cycles with bleach on warm water (no dryer) and it's still there.  Of course it had to be on all of the cute baby clothes and not the old dish towels that I'm getting ready to toss.  Any tips?  It doesn't seem like the 2nd wash cycle helped even a little bit.

  • I had this happen once and I used lemon juice and salt mixed together and rubbed it in on the moldy spots. It worked great!  GL!

  • If the clothes are white, mix up 3/4 cup bleach with a gallon of cold water.Put the clothes in, and let them soak at least overnight. If the clothes are colored, I have no hints.

This. Bleach for the smell. and HOT water.
  • Thanks for the tips. Luckily the clothes are white. I'll try the lemon juice first, then bleach if that doesn't work.
  • I have also had some luck with a soak cycle with a good amount of white vinegar.

Unfortunately I have a FL washer and there is NO soak cycle.  I miss my TL washer.

  • I don't know much about any suggestions, but I totally know your pain. A whole box of clothes that I had put away for Winter were all moldy and all the shoes that were in the box too.  We washed the clothes with three different soaps and oxi clean.  It was funny because my dad put in way too much soap and they all smell really really clean now.  Good Luck!
  • For the smell, I've had good luck with the febreeze sports laundry additive.  Also, you could soak in the sink or a bucket.

  • Hang/lay them to dry (put them out while WET) in direct sunlight with the black spots up...then you may have to repeat for the other side. Sunlight is a natural bleaching agent and does amazing things.
