Weekend plans?

So, what's everyone been up to?

Yesterday, we got paint matched for a fixture that goes with our cabinets for a new microwave. H primed and I put one coat on before the fumes got to me. I also cleaned a bit, we got lunch, watched most of the OU game, and last night I went out to Red Rock for dinner with some friends. Then I got a glorious and much-needed night's sleep.

Today, it's the usual boring stuff: groceries, work out, clean a little.

Re: Weekend plans?

  • Went to Mama Roja with Dh's sister and her hubby and our niece and nephew on Friday, then went over to their house to chill and watch the kids run around! Yesterday DH and I have a lazy morning/afternoon. Did a little shopping later on, went to see "I'm Still Here" (the Joaquin Phoenix film) at the art museum with friends, and just hung out. Tonight we are going to the Thunder game, woo!
  • Yesterday morning I helped bag 3300 lbs. of frozen onions 2 lbs. at a time at the Food Bank (let me tell you I smelled lovely).  Then I did a little shopping for the family we're helping my mom's side of the family buy Christmas for, then went and got a funky new haircut (similar to this Kiera Knightley 'do: http://www.newhairstyles2010.com/keira-knightley-short-pixie-hairstyles-2.html).  Last night H and I watched Agora, which was definitely thought-provoking.

Right now we're lazing around, and this afternoon we'll be going to the fairgrounds to watch SIL perform with the Perpetual Motion dance company.  They're going to be doing aerial dance (think Cirque du Soleil type stuff).  I am really excited about it!  Then we'll head out to hang with the ILs.

  • I have been a lump of laziness this weekend, which has been AWESOME! Football, food, reading, naps, and Law and Order marathons. It's weekends like this that make me incredibly reluctant to ever have a child. I think I'd miss them too much!
  • We actually ended up going to the OU game because we got some free tickets, and then had dinner at my parents' house after. Ended up talking finances (which, though I know it sounds weird, I LOVE doing with them because they are so smart about them) and had a great time. Today I'm doing laundry, homework, and I'm going to make JLimberg's chicken tortilla soup for dinner. Yum yum!
  • Friday I hung out with B. Saturday we went to a birthday party at a family farm and had lots of fun. Bentley and I went to church this morning, and after church I yelled at the cop in the parking lot for his inability to direct traffic without being an a$$hole. In true 2nd grade form, he got mouthy with me first, so I went ahead and humored his policeman power trip. Which confirmed that he and I both probably need a bit more Jesus than what was provided at church this morning. This afternoon I plan on taking a nap with B and cooking dinner for H, who will be home from working all week in TX this evening.

I too have been super lazy this weekend. I started to feel bad about it, and then reminded myself that I won't always have these weekends! DH is out of town, and I'm snuggled on the couch with the puppy.

  • We had planned to go to Dallas for our anniversary but we were too lazy.

Friday night we...okay, don't laugh...went to Lowe's to walk around, talk about our bathroom reno, and dream.  This happened Saturday night too. And Sunday morning.

So.....we slept in yesterday (this new energy efficient patio door we installed in our bedroom is freaking glorious - we hear nothing - NOTHING outside and I am finally getting a good night's sleep!), then went to the tag agency (yikes!) and our upholsterer delivered our chairs (yesss!).  Then, we decided to go to some antique stores to look for a new side table for between the chairs - and DH is repainting it right now.  Also, at 9:30 last night we made a last minute run to Crimson and Whipped Cream bakery - my Lord.  That place is soooo good and its any wonder none of my pants fit.

Today, we went to Lowe's to order our new storm door (and to do more walking around and dreaming). I have repainted the casing around our new interior doors (I am convinced the subcontractor did not do this but DH thinks I am nuts) and repainted our mantle. I think we are going to get a new mantle but I figured we should try to spruce up the one we have before buying new.

The paint fumes are getting to me if you can't tell.

I also saw this yesterday. Interesting film. My gigantic crush on Casey Affleck has been confirmed tenfold. Smarty-pants, funny, and HOT. Yes, please.

Um, anyway. I went to the Thunder game Friday, movie last night, and am working all day today.

We went there last weekend. I thought the actual cake of the cupcakes was wonderful (better than Cuppies and Joe/Sara Sara), but the buttercream seemed a bit oily. Perhaps I just got a bad batch?

I agree - so much better than Sara/Sara and Cuppies.  I love her frosting, I have never noticed it being oily but I have noticed that I appear to be the only one of my friends that is able to eat ALL of the icing on one cupcake. Next time, try the whoopie pies. Oh Lord.  *whispers* I may have had two last night.

  • H left for work yesterday morning. He will be back Thurs. I did a bit of Christmas shopping. I am on the hunt for a new Christmas tree. After shopping I went to my parents to watch the OSU game.

I went to church with my parents this morning. I just finished watching Letters to Juliet and am about to clean house.

  • DH had to work yesterday, so I got some cleaning and laundry done.  When he got home we watched the OSU game and had enchiladas for dinner.

Today we went to our friends' house since we missed their daughter's 3rd birthday party yesterday.  We took her gift to her and just hung out at their house most of the day, then stopped for dinner on our way home.
