Could Murtha lose?
Maybe there is a limit, after all, to how often a Congressman can insult his constituents and get away with it. The latest polling shows Republican challenger Bill Russell leading Mad Jack Murtha by three points in Pennsylvania's 12th District. U.S. Rep. John Murtha is calling many of the people who put him in office "rednecks."
The news comes one week after Murtha claimed the area is racist, then apologized for that comment.
In explaining his comments about racism, Murtha told WTAE it's difficult for many in the area to change. Murtha said that just five to 10 years ago the entire area was "redneck."
I can't believe people would keep putting Murtha in office when he denigrated the troops AND continually insulted his constituents. I really hope he loses. I have not seen any poll numbers.
Pgh--I'm sure Quinn and Rose are on the case. They were really supporting Diana Irey (sp.) last time.
I have to say that more than anything this reflects poorly on Pelosi's judgment. ?Remember her big stand just after she became speaker? ?She left Steny Hoyer (former Whip) high and dry and supported Murtha for the Majority leader position.
Why she felt the need to destroy any control she had in her first official action, I don't know. ?As Murtha keeps coming up (calling the Haditha marines who were cleared murderers, and now this), I can't help but think how dense Pelosi is.?
