Pooks -- how did covert bar operations go last night?

How did it all go?  Were you able to keep it quiet?

Re: Pooks -- how did covert bar operations go last night?

  • I was just about to report on it. I decided that even though I told my sister about antibiotics that I would still do a 'drink'  (as if I couldn't resist LOL) so I was able to pull my waiter aside and ask him to make me something that looks like a cocktail but is not. I am guessing he has gotten that request a lot because he was back in no time flat with a cranberry concotion (maybe he was on the board yesterday).

Unfortunately my sister kept bugging me to see if I felt okay anyway, because of the cough and because of how tipsy she ended up.

Oh and in the end 3 others only had 1-2 drinks also because of driving so I fit in well.

  • Oh good, it was perfect!

  • perfect!!!

Of course, you've got the holidays coming up, and I'm sure only more and more, the "usually i'd have a drink in this setting" will continue over the next 3 months...    you'll get very good at side conversations with waiters!

DH has pointed out the same thing about the holidays as well. I am going to really push the being a dd and a lot of fake drinks.

  • Glad to hear things went well!

If it helps, this got me through every wedding/special event:

First off, I was always DD.  But this isn't unusual.  Then I would immediately grab a glass of wine/beer and hold on to it.  I would occasionally raise it to my lips to mimic taking a sip.  Then, after a while I would excuse myself to the ladies room, where I would pour out half.  Go back, repeat, pour out whole drink.  Then when people would ask I would "have already had my one drink b/c I was DD"

Oh, and in the case of weddings where it would be weird to take your wine glass/beer into the bathroom, my husband would drink the same thing, drink half, we would both put it down, and I would pick up his half drank glass/bottle.

The bottom line is, people don't really think about it.  And if they do, if they see you with a drink/sipping from one, they'll immediately figure you're not pregnant, and they'll promptly forget to pay attention to what you're drinking.

I feel I should mention that all my friends are 'watchers', b/c I just read over this and I feel crazy, haha.

    Hope this helps!
