Thanksgiving!

I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost here.  I have no idea what cocktails I am making this year...and I am seriously going to need them.  I really need to get on that.  It will be the only thing that will get me through the day with my in-laws.  What is everyone else making for food/drinks?  I need inspiration!

Re: Thanksgiving!

  • I am making pumpkin cheesecake and probably pumpkin bread.

We will likely also take a side dish, so I'll just ask her what she wants us to bring. She'll probably say nothing, so I will ask DH to whip up some sweet potato casserole or squash or something.

No help on the drink front, except I made pumpkin pie shots for one of our fall parties and they were a big hit.

  • I'm making a salad.  I was looking up mulled apple cider recipes last night and some of them included liquor - I think that's what I would do if I were making drinks!
  • I have to make mashed potatoes for my husband or he'll refuse to eat... my family never served these for Thanksgiving (we have sweet potatoes instead) and he was devastated his first Thanksgiving with my family. I'm also making at least one dessert (pie?) and quinoa- sweet potato cakes. Not sure what else!
  • I'm making orange pumpkin cookies this year. Stick out tongue

My BIL asked for my mom's cranberry sauce recipe because it is legendary. It converts non-cranberry sauce eaters. Haha. I made it a few years ago and it was a big hit.

  • We have no idea what we're making yet. The whole year is just flying by for me and we really need to get on top of this soon.  Luckily we're not hosting so just have to figure out a couple of things to bring.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • i'm making chocolate chip pumpkin cookies and probably an apple crisp. maybe a side dish but i'm not sure what yet.
    Anniversary
  • I'm hosting for my in-laws, BIL and my mom so I'm making the turkey, some Martha Stewart cornbread stuffing that I made for Christmas last year, a box of crap stuffing because my FIL is unadventurous, roasted brussels sprouts with shallots, and some roasted butternut squash b/c my MIL really wants it (and she's bringing sweet potato casserole just because I really want it). My IL's are bringing mashed potatoes and the sweet potato casserole and I think some mashed turnips that DH and I hate but they insist on having them at Thanksgiving every year. I'm going to ask my mom to make her cranberry sauce too because I haven't had it in years! She's staying with us for the few days around Thanksgiving. For dessert I'm making an apple/pear crisp and a chocolate cake b/c my FIL is obsessed with the choc cake. And I have some cranberry wine that we got at a fruit winery in Vermont. So excited!
