i need furniture asap....i live in a small one bedroom apt in manhattan. Need sofa (preferably leather, sectional or sofa and loveseat), wardrobe and table for two (preferably pub style, maybe drop leaf, maybe turns into 4 seater). all by this weekend. It needs to be affordable and contemporary. Any suggestions? Im open to nj, queens, manhattan or brooklyn....WHERE DO I GOOOO????????
Re: HELP need furniture???
All I can say is DO NOT get any kind of leather sofas from Ikea. My husband and I made that mistake last year, and literally the leather is peeling up (on one sofa) AND Ikea is fighting us over getting it replaced.
So, a new set for us it is.
How about Ashley Furniture? They have nice stuff.
Ack! You're not worried about the bedbug infestation the city is currently having? I used to be obsessed with thrift shops and that kind of thing but have put it on hold til the Department of Health gives the "All Clear"
This was four years ago (the couches) so there wasn't a bed bug problem then. But I would probably be ok with it still - you can see bedbugs (they aren't teeny tiny microscopic bugs - they are big, they kind of look like ticks) so I'd just check the furniture before buying. I saw a special on the news that said this whole "infestation" thing is really being blown out of proportion - bed bugs have always been in NYC, it's just now people are talking about them. And if a store finds one bed bug, it's all over the news as an "infestation" - like the "infestation" of the Empire State Building....there was one bedbug in the basement!
