Moms - toddler bed question
At what age did you move your LO from the crib to a toddler bed?
How did you know your LO was ready for the move?
Re: Moms - toddler bed question
neither of my kids were climbers and were happy to sleep in their cribs so I waited until potty training, about 2.5 years old. just took the front rail off the crib so it converted to the day bed. and babygated the door.
Abby 14.5 months...when I look back that was nuts!!! Idk if she was ready but she couldn't have done better actually. She transitioned like a DREAM. She didn't have a choice really we needed the crib for R because he was on his way that month.
Now R...he ummm well no way would I have even considered trying to put him in a toddler bed at 14.5 months. About 2 months ago he started crawling out of the crib and I took it down and put the toddler bed up for him. NIGHTMARE. He would not go to sleep in it. He was (and still is a wonderful sleeper) but would NOT go to sleep/self soothe as he does every night in that bed! I was able to lower it more and thankfully he hasn't tried to climb out again.
Idk when I will try again I love my sleep and don't want to mess with his! I may try and tackle it this christmas break or just wait until summer when he's 2 and we start potty training (if he isn't pt'd by then)
Davis is content in his crib, so until he displays a behavior towards it he will stay in it until he is 3. I don't see a reason otherwise to move him into a big boy bed, unless of course we shock everyone and reproduce again, haha.
Here is my situation. B2 is waking up and wanting to sleep in our bed. Which isnt an issue while B is working nights. I know its my fault. But with starting the new job I didn't him up half the night crying. So I just got up and brought him back to our bed.
He sleeps longer there too. So I thought that maybe he would like his own big boy bed. I mentioned it to B and he said he didn't know about the whole idea. I also told him that when I watched Monica's kids, Addy has a big gilr bed and she and B2 would sit there and watch tv.
I told B we could convert the crib and get a gate for his room after christmas. So B2 will be 20 months. I was just curious as to the whens and why and how you knew your LO was ready.
Braelyn - we moved at 21 months but she was fully potty trained (over night as well) so I wanted her to be in a toddler bed. She never tried to climb out of her crib. But I also knew if she would wake up in a toddler bed I didn't have to worry about her getting into everything she shouldn't be.
Now Carly is a terror and into everythign so I don't think she will be going to a toddler bed anytime soon.
