DH and I were discussing this over the weekend. Does it matter if the wedding band or e-ring goes on first?
DH seems to think that the e-ring goes first since I got it first. I think that the wedding band goes on first for two reasons.
1) I am a wife first
2) My wedding band is a little snug. If I put the band on first and then the e-ring it fits comfortably. If I reverse them and put the e-ring on first, it pushes the fat from my finger upward. If I then put the band on, it's really tight and hurts my finger.

Yep. Another vote for the closer to the heart thing.
My rings are the other way around - my e-ring is smaller so that it holds my wedding band on. :-)
Yep. You win. Score!
I've always heard this closest to your heart thing too.
