c25k ers.

So, are y'all ready for week three???

 I'm NOT!

I didn't even do week two.  I got sick on Sunday and it took me all week to recover enough to consider going outside and then we had guests over this evening... so it looks like I'm going to either skip week two and go straight to three, or (depending on if I feel like I'm going to die...) re-start with week two.  Any suggestions?  I'm totally embarrassed I was so gung ho... and now look at me.... boo.

How are y'all doing?  Feeling motivated?  Anyone already noticing improvement in their stamina?

Re: c25k ers.

  • I'd say start up with week two - unless week one was just easy peasy without any issues.  Getting sick is going to make you feel like you are set back a little, but don't feel discouraged by it!  If anything else, it'll be good to build up a little stamina.
  • Yeah, I wouldn't skip week 2. I just started week 1 this morning. A week later than I planned but it's a start right?
  • I would start with week 2.

I finished week 2 yesterday and week 3 starts tomorrow. I'm pretty motivated right now to stay on track. This program is really kicking my butt, but I like that it's only 30 minutes and I feel good afterward.

Unfortunately, I seem to think that running = a free pass to eat like crap and I gained weight this week. Boo.

  • Ditto everyone else with starting week 2 again, especially if you've been sick.

Week 2 was good - I got all 3 workouts in. I was going to starrt week 3 yesterday afternoon, but I took a nap instead. My plan is to start tomorrow.

So far so good, other than the fact my dog has not been a good running partner. Maybe I'll burn extra calories from pulling on his leash? Either that or he makes me go at a faster pace since he's dragging me. Smile

  • kristin - I totally sympathize!!  When I was doing c25k, I tried to take the dog with me on the first 2 weeks' runs, but eventually, i had to leave her at home.  We also tried me doing the warm up walk with her, DH meeting me outside and taking her after the walk, so that I could run like I needed to, but that didn't last long either.  I might recommend that you leave him at home until week 5 or whenever you start running the whole time.  I really needed the recovery time during the walks, and the constant leash pulling wasn't letting me catch my breath enough.  Once I was running the whole time, it would have been a lot easier to take her with me (but I still left her at home like a bad dog-mom).

  • Week two was pretty good for me. I'm a little worried about when I'm going to be able to start week 3. I was supposed to go today, but this morning filled up with an appointment and errands and I'm just now getting to eat. The week only gets busier from here.

Any suggestions on keeping with a routine through the holidays?

  • Last week was not successful for me.  I didn't complete the whole week.  I did something to my knee.  Right below my knee cap on the front of my knee it hurts. It is almost like it is the top of my shin but it's not a shin splint so I don't know what it is.  It just hurts.  I can walk fine but if I put any additional pressure (running, standing up from sitting, etc.) it hurts.  I feel like it's just an excuse, just typing it out.  But I'm a baby and it hurts.  Any idea why?  I don't want to go to the doctor so I just want it to get better.

  • MNMShaw - did you have a moment where you knew it was hurt?  I would start out using ibprofin (sp?) every 4-6 hours to help with the inflammation.  If it lasts more than a couple days, I'd see the doctor just to be careful.  I have tendonitis in my left knee that I struggle with... but mine is more "in" then knee that what you're explaining.

    Hope it feels better soon!

Try doing it in the morning. I get into the best routine when I get up at 5:30.

I only noticed it after I was done and was resting.  I had sat down on the couch and then when I went to get up and put pressure on it and that is when I felt the pain.  I haven't used any ibuprofen yet, I'll try that.
