When was your first appointment with your obgyn? Mine is the 27th of December, I am not sure why I find that weird but I do. They are sending me a packet but otherwise that's it. I have to call Maternal Fetal Medicine to find out when they want me to schedule my first appointment with them but I think that wouldn't be until my 2nd trimester.
Just wondering.
Re: Moms/Moms to be
I found out December 9th, and my first appointment wasn't until December 21ist or something around there. I thought it was weird too, that they waited so long! I didn't go to the MFM until 12 weeks.
Ahh!! I still can't believe I missed that post!!!
I had my blood done at 4.5 weeks, right after we found out. But the first real appt (where we saw baby mo) was at 9.5 weeks.
I'm a breastfeeding, baby wearing, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, anti-CIO Mommy

i found out i was pg dec. 8th and my 1st appt. was jan 5th. they told me it was standard to wait a few weeks so they can see the sac and/or hear a heartbeat. sometimes if you go too early you don't see a sac and it can be scary but it's just b/c it takes a few weeks before it's noticeable.
i know it's a pain waiting but it's worth it! i am so happy for you! xo

Okay your replies make me feel better, I guess I didn't even think about hearing or seeing anything but having more of a consult.
Thanks for the replies.
You barely missed it, it was just Saturday. LOL

I think they originally scheduled me for a 10-week appointment, but I went in sooner (8 weeks?) when I spotted. They could see the gestational sacs at that point.
Are you high risk? Does your OB know that? I would think that they'd see you sooner if you're high risk.
She knows and is the one that referred me but now that I think about it I just called in and made the appointment, I might call back and ask if she would want to see me sooner.
I am only high risk because the Factor II but the plan was going to be to stick to 81 mg asprin until 2nd trimester when I would start doing the Heparin, compression stockings the duration, and 2.2 mg of folic acid everyday.
I had an intake appointment at 8 weeks with the NP. She did a pelvic exam and we went over my heath histroy. After that I went to the lab for blood work.
I didn't meet with the OB until 10 weeks, and basically it was more of the same with her as the NP (minus the pelvic exam). We did try the doppler to see if we could hear the heartbeat and we could!
12 weeks was my NT scan/ultra sound.
at 15 weeks I transferred to my current midwives at the birth cottage. I am not having a hospital birth.
18 and a half weeks was my anatomy scan.
19-27 weeks I was going once a month. Now I am going in every 2 weeks until 36 weeks where I will be going in every week until I deliver.
You can never be too safe! Sometimes the scheduling people don't know about special circumstances like that. I would call back.
Congratulations! I saw the original post, but was at work and didn't get a chance to comment
To answer your question, we had an appointment around 8 or 9 weeks, but that was purely informational, we just met with a nurse to chat. At 12 weeks I had my first checkup with the MW and we heard the h/b for the first time.
