Since we are still in a down economy, do you think that people are expecting less for the holidays? What are you doing to stretch your dollar this holiday season?

Re: Holiday Spending
we've decided that the adults will not exchange gifts in my family this year. I'm sure my parents will still get everything something and we'll get them something, but we're not exchanging with my brothers/sisters-in-law. Just the kiddos will be getting something, and even that has like a $10 cap. My brother recently got laid off and started a new job, but isn't making a ton. My other brother and his SO are legally blind and rely on social security, and I am a SAHM. So we will all benefit from buying less.
Other friends/neighbors will get some homemade treats, fudge and stuff.
We quit talking to my family. That significantly cut down our "people to buy for" list.
My Christmas list has been cut in half this year. Happy and sad about it at the same time.
Other than that, my family probably isn't going to "cut down" on spending this year. Family drama has cut down gifts and spending significantly in the last few years anyway.
This is legal advice. Circa 2011
