Royal Wedding

Prince William (soon to be known as Prince William Duke of Cambridge) has officially proposed to Kate Middleton (the future Duchess of Cambridge).  They are planning a Spring or Summer 2011 wedding.

Thoughts?  Do you care?  Will this be as televised and cause as much cultural hysteria as Prince Charles and Diana's wedding??

Re: Royal Wedding

  • Hells yes I care! I remember my mother waking me up in the middle of the night to watch Diana get married.

With that being said...I am going to London. I have been to many "once in a lifetime" sporting events with the hubs - this is MY once in a lifetime event!

As far as her title - I thought it hadn't been decided yet? Can you clicky where you say that?

  • It's about freaking time.

I think it's awesome, and I'm sure I'll watch coverage...but I'm not too engrossed in it. Ask me again around the wedding though. :P

  • It does intrested me a little and if the wedding is televised I will probably watch it.

  • We were in Sweden right before Crown Princess Victoria's wedding - it was awesome.

I can't even imagine what this would be like!

  • Stripes was kind enough to call me first thing this morning and share the good news.  I'm so excited!  I hope the wedding is televised b/c if I can't be in London when they get married, then I will watch it on TV (and probably tape it too).

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa...what are you talking about, willis? You are going. You don't REALLY have a choice!!!!!

I apologize for calling you so early!

Ha ha!  This might mean I might have to forego a few Skirvin lunches so I can start saving up for the prince's wedding.  I can only imagine how much the hotels and such are going to reap in for all the vacationers like us!

Speaking of vacations and flying... last night BF and I had a debate about which TSA search we wanted to go through... pat down v. full body scan.  I don't know why he was so worried about it considering he seldom flies, but he was convinced I need the pat down to avoid radiation from the full body scan b/c you can't trust the government. I can only imagine all the body cavity searches we're going to have to endure just to be in London for that wedding!  Stick out tongue

We need to make a deal - bring our lunches - go to Royal Wedding. I can do it.  Since the last phase of our current renos are completed, I think I can hold off on my spending for awhile.

After the DvF ruelala sale that starts in 15 minutes, of course. Surprise

I may need to avoid ruelala altogether.  I wish they would have announced these wedding plans before I went shopping in Dallas last weekend.  Of course there is one more thing I will have to buy in honor of the big wedding... a hat!  I've always wanted a big fancy hat but unfortunately they don't seem to be very fashionable here in the U.S. unless you're at the Kentucky Derby.

  • Stripes- I don't think the titles have been confirmed- that's just the popular spectulation according to the article I read on MSN this morning.

  • I honestly don't care anymore than I care about Joe-Schmoe up the street getting engaged. I'm not sure why so many people seem to care so much. Anyone care to enlighten me?
  • You know, I never saw Diana's wedding, although my MIL taped it for me from when they re-ran it at some point. I still haven't watched it, but I've been meaning to....maybe I'll watch that before this wedding and have myself a royal wedding field day.

Did you see that he gave her his mother's ring, all sapphire and diamonds? Amazing....

The pressure they must be under, though....it almost gives me an anxiety attack for them, practically.

My mother and I watched Diana get married - we got up in the middle of the night to watch.  I am so pumped up!!!

    ITA Yes
  • We lived in England when Prince Charles got married and it was a big deal in their country, obviously. It was the only thing on tv on all 13 of our channels. If this wedding is televised here I will probably watch it.

    this.

I actually thought they were already engaged when I saw this.  I thought I saw a commercial on TLC that said something about that a few weeks ago.  Really though, I wasn't paying much attention.
