Oops.

I always get angry when someone uses up the last of the water in the cooler but doesn't replace the water jug, so I may have replaced the jug a tad too early just now.

As the new jug went on some water splashed out, and I thought it just went on the wall.

Apparently it mostly went on me.  In a location that I can't easily see just by looking down (ie, right under my boobs).  And of course 3 separate people pointed it out to me as I'm walking back to my desk (which is not far).

Oops.

Also, now I'm damp.  Boo.

Anyone else have an oops lately they feel like sharing to make me feel better?

Re: Oops.

  • For me anyway, it is a daily occurance it seems.  My boobs catch everything.  Yup nothing ever makes it to the lower part of my shirt, it is always the boobs.  I am usually walking around with either a huge wet spot (from trying to get something out), or food all down my shirt.  You would have thought that I just learned how to eat yesterday. Embarrassed

  • I took a spill at the gym the other day. In front of all the trainers. I was walking over some equipment, stuff I walk over all the time, and my toes caught. Down I went, along with my water bottle, clipboard, and pen. I think I might have sworn loudly, too. One of the trainers helped me up, and I tried to play it off by saying I was having a clumsy day. But every day's a clumsy day--just not usually at the gym. I'm sure I turned beet red.

I felt like a dork, but I did manage to finish my workout.

  • I kind of made an arse of myself in our managers meeting at work this morning, but I got on my soapbox and this girl kept pushing me.

    Long story short:

Our goal over the holidays is to be better about recognizing our associates for the things they do exceedingly well. I threw out the idea to have a "recognition board" of some sort in the back where we as management can jot down quick notes when we catch someone in the act as an extra "yay!" factor.  She broke it down into how it's going to alienate people and we have to make sure we recognize everyone for the things they do well so we need to put everyone on the board each week and we need to make rules of how they can get on the board and all these things making it SO complicated.  I've been in management for a while, and I KNOW that going into a holiday season giving yourself one more thing with rules to stress over is ridiculous. I said, "No, we just need to do it when we see it and not make rules about it."  I hate this thing my brother calls the "trophy generation." Everyone wins, everyone gets a prize, because it's *fair.* Life's not fair.  Recognize people who are busting ass, let the people who aren't figure out how to improve to get recognized. Simple as that. If everyone makes it on the board, it's not special, and it doesn't have a purpose.

I may or may not have been a little bit adamant about my opinion...  I should have kept my cool a bit better, but I was annoyed. Oops.

  • Today while waiting to meet with our favorite perinatologist Dr. Jones Sean and I got busted singing this song badly and loudly. It was pretty embarrassing.

  • My stomach hasn't been feeling well with all the advil I've been taking. I'm hoping no one noticed that I've been stinking myself out of my desk all morning. Embarrassed The funny part is that DH would be so proud! Home in less than one hour. Thank goodness.

  • auntb, when I worked at McD's we had a "Warm Fuzzies" board.  If one of the managers thought someone had done a great job with something, they'd do what you said, make up a note (complete with shiny stickers) and put it up on the board.  It was right next to the schedule posting and everyone loved it.  It was a totally awesome feeling to get one.  And when I was a manager, I LOVED giving them.

    Your coworker is a turd.

    Thank you.

I just feel like there is no reason to overcomplicate things.

  • I totally agree with you auntb.

Yesterday I had to go to court with one of the kids.  I had jeans on and was planning on changing before court.  I ended up a getting a bad headache.  Our counselor walks and asks why I am going to  court and jeans.  I run home and change into my worst pair of khakis, which as she put them are pretty much jeans too.  Thank goodness we were on video conference. I really need to learn how dress up.
