Well, I'm all for getting the ball rolling on another topic. I happen to love that we got married on a "slower" month - even with Valentine's Day in the mix!
My favorite part about our wedding was how gorgeous everything looked with the snow. Definitely made for some awesome pictures. Also that we got to go on our honeymoon to hot, tropical places as a welcome break from the long, cold winter here in the Northeast.
Aside from that, we picked February because it was the month during which we fell in love, I've always wanted a winter wedding, and it was definitely a cost-savings. We had our pick of venues!
Why did you all pick Feb? And what was your favorite part about getting married then?
Re: Yikes - just ONE post?
I wanted to get married in the winter. We got engaged in Nov. 2008 so it was mostly timing. I loved that I was not hot in my dress. I hated that I was so worried about the weather. I was literally nuts the week before, worried that we would get another major storm. I remember being in the gym and almost crying while watching the news because the extended forcast changed. I ended up not sleeping the entire week before our wedding. In the end, we got a lot of snow on the night of our rehearsal, but barely an inch laid. It felt like being in a snow globe, it snowed and snowed, but nothing stayed on the ground. The morning of our wedding we got flurries and that was all, sun came out later.
I loved everything about my wedding and it really did go way to fast. I really loved my dress and the food at our reception.
My mom was the one watching the weather constantly, I knew we'd roll with it somehow. Someone told me a story of how in Boston a blizzard hit a few hrs before someone's wedding, and the groomsmen hoisted the bride on their shoulders to get to the church. It was such a cute story (and made for awesome pictures I'm sure) that I was totally fine with whatever decided to happen.
As long as it wasn't rain. I was terrfied it might rain
LOL.
My H was so happy he wasn't sweating in his tux either, and I loved just having a shawl and not a coat. The adrenaline rush kept me warm, that's for sure.
I got married on the 20th of Feb in St. Louis, MO. My mom passed away in April of 2009 and wasn't there for my special day. The entire week had been freezing and raining and was making me depressed about the happiest day of my life. I woke up at 7 am that morning to the sun shining off the lake at my best friend's apartment where I'd stayed. We walked outside in awe to 50 degree weather and bright, cloudless skies. I could not be happier about my wedding, minus my mom not being there. But, as I looked out on the lake, I remember thinking that she was, in fact, there.
