Poor Adam!!

So I told you guys about the stitches incident... well, yesterday he had to go to the dentist to have one of his wisdom teeth removed.  They ended up having to cut it out instead of doing the simple extraction like they thought.  So now he has stitches in his hand AND his mouth.  After work yesterday, I took him to CVS to get his prescription and he ended up throwing up in the parking lot.  So now he's on pain meds, antibiotics, and phenergen to help with the nausea... Well, apparently the combo of everything is not working out too well for him.  He ended up getting up SEVEN times in the middle of the night to throw up.  When I left for work this morning, he was curled up in bed in the fetal position.  He's a hot mess right now!!

Re: Poor Adam!!

  • oh no, the poor thing! Maybe the combination of the painkillers is too strong for him?!

when I had my wisdom teeth out the first time they gave me coedine which wound up being too strong for me b/c i'm so petite. I threw up for 12 hours, which isn't easy with stiches in your mouth.

I would call the denist or pharmacy just to be on the safe side, you also dont want him to be dehydrated

  • Goodness!! That is awful.. Cameron had an awful time getting his wisdom teeth out but I'm glad he never vomited!

On another note.. he went to the doctor yesterday because his middle finger on his right hand has been bugging him for a while and when he bends it he can feel it pop. So the doctor told him it sounds like trigger finger (which I have no idea what it is and need to research it) and refered him to an orthopedic surgeon. He called the OS to schedule an appointment and they got him in yesterday. Thankfully he said he doesn't think surgery is needed right now so he put a splint on his hand that goes nearly to his elbow! He had to call off work last night and has to wear this thing for a week! Ugh... Men!!

  • That is terrible! Poor Adam!
  • Well, they put him on lortab 7.5s, which isn't a big deal for him.  He's taken them pretty often for his feet issues.  I think it's probably the antibiotics that are doing it.  He's been eating before he takes them, but it's not working out too well for him.

  • Poor thing! I am so sorry he is not feeling well. Maybe try eating very "blah" food, bread, unseasoned chicken, steamed veggies. Might help to have no seasonings/spices.
  • Poor guy! I hope he starts feeling better soon! I had all of my wisdom teeth out 3 years ago, thankfully the meds didn't make me sick.

  • He wanted mac and cheese last night, so I made that for him (just a microwave meal), but he couldn't keep that down.  I left him some chicken noodle soup at the house, so he can heat that up when he gets up.

  • Poor guy hope he is on the mend soon! Hugs to both of you!!! I would talk to the someone about the meds. With the throwing up I totally agree with the others who said the same thing.

Also, how effective can the meds be if he's puking them up all the time?

  • Well, he hasn't been puking immediately after taking them.  He said that he can still feel the pain medication working, so they're obviously in his belly long enough to somewhat take effect.  He pukes a little while afterwards.

  • Poor guy! Sounds awful.  I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed when I was 18.  When I woke up, I was feelin' good.  My mom drove me home and on the way home, she had to pull over so I could barf.  It was the most disgusting thing ever with the gauze and the blood and EWW.  I totally feel his pain.

See, that's part of the problem... The dentist told him not to spit, so he's been swallowing blood and then puking it back up.  Fun, huh?  He would not make a good vampire... Huh?

As nerdy as it is, I became completely obssessed with those books.  My SIL had all four of them and let me borrow them.  I had the whole series done in like less than 2 weeks.  Geeked

I was told not to spit or drink from a straw, both can cause dry sockets. I was put on hydrocodone (sp?) and that stuff knocks me out cold! I had surgery on Thursday morning, I would get up to use the bathroom and maybe lay on the couch for a little while then I was back in bed. I didn't really start moving around until Saturday.

  • Hydrocodones are generic for lortabs.  When I got my wisdom teeth out, the oral surgeon gave me some sort of pills that were the equivalent to morphine.  I was out for like a week straight!!!  That was a fun week!

Jay has had surgery for this twice.  He goes for the third, and hopefully last one, in December.  Hope your hubby heals and doesn't need surgery.  It is pretty painful from what Jay says.

  • poor thing! hope he gets better soon!
