Where can I buy girls dress up clothes?

I'm doing a gift donation thing through work and one of the kids requested dress up clothes.  I obviously don't want to give her some crummy used stuff out of my closet, but where would I get fun, new stuff?  Target?  And will I be able to get at least a couple of things for <$45 total?

ETA: She's 3 years old.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Ahh this is going to make me so crazy, because I just saw a set of dress up clothes somewhere recently, and I can't remember where for the life of me! Grr!

I would guess WalMart might have it, or Toys R Us?

Hahaha, sorry!  I hate that, when it's right on the edge of my memory. But you have preggo brain, it's OK!

  • When they say "dress up clothes" do they mean like when little girls dress up as things/characters? Or do they mean just more formal/fancier clothes.

I think of dress up when I was little and I used to want to wear extravagent things that I wouldn't normally wear. If that was the case for this could you find some halloween costumes on sale somewhere? Or do something like this from Amazon?

But if they are just looking for nicer clothes as oppose to play dress up clothes I would definitely opt for Target. Or even Kohls as they have some great deals out right now for the holidays.

Shoot, I assumed they meant "playing dress up"-type clothes and not formal clothes but now I'm not sure.  Actually, thinking some more, it must be play clothes because this is supposed to be a toy drive-like thing where the kids request things they want from "Frosty's Friends."

  • You can definitely find them at Target and Toys R Us.  I've bought dress up outfits for my niece at both...I will say that her favorite dress up items are fake jewlery, fancy shoes and purses :).
  • Maybe even a set of "jewelry" like THIS

Or this is from Toyrus Dress up Set

    An Amazon one: LINK

Another one thats really cute at Walmart LINK

  • When I'd play dress up with my friends in elementary school we would wear our moms' old regular and BM dresses. We always had a blast. Granted we were 7-11ish years old at the time. Not quite sure about a 3yo.

  • I have actually found some amazing and inexpensive stuff at Marshalls.  They have great princess dresses, and sets of kids plastic fancy shoes.  I always have great luck there.
