**zoe** Houston Chronicle Endorsement
Did you read it?This was my favorite part.

Perhaps the worst mistake McCain made in his campaign for the White House was the choice of the inexperienced and inflammatory Palin as his vice-presidential running mate. Had he selected a moderate, experienced Republican lawmaker such as Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison with a strong appeal to independents, the Chronicle's choice for an endorsement would have been far more difficult.
Re: **zoe** Houston Chronicle Endorsement
I'm not at all surprised about DMN. Seriously, if they had endorsed Obama, I might have passed out from the shock. (But remember: they aren't a major paper, and they don't count.) The number of newspapers endorsing Obama really is amazing when compared to the 2004 election.
Perhaps. I'm not really fan of Kay Bailey politically, but I do admire her fire and political grit. The lady knows what she is doing.
LOL!!!
I think the most shocking -- perhaps even more than the Chronicle -- was the Bryan/College Station paper going for Obama. Now I KNOW they aren't considered major, but that's irrelevant. The fact that stalwarts of traditionally conservative country are not endorsing McCain is HUGE.
The problem with Liddy Dole is that she is not very popular in North Carolina and has a reputation as ineffective and absent from the state. She's in a very tight raise for re-election. She's also the same age as McCain. Not that Palin is a good pick because she is young, but Dole wouldn't bring much youthful vigor to the ticket.
