What did you do with your wedding dress?

I have no idea what to do with my wedding dress, sell, donate, keep, etc..

What did you ladies do?

Re: What did you do with your wedding dress?

  • I got mine preserved
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • It was untouched and hanging in my closet until I did a TTD over the summer. It didn't really "trash" it, so now it's back in the closet.

I'm so no help. I might end up donating it.

I'm going to donate through Making Memories - goes to breast cancer research.

  • Mine has been hanging in the closet for a year and a half. I'd love to do something with it. First order of business is getting it preserved. But I think the cut of it might make it a fun party dress if I got the bottom shortened just a bit and dyed it. But I haven't the slightest clue how to make that happen. (First I gotta build up the courage to cut the dress)

  • I still have it hanging in my parents closet. I will probably donate it.

  • We were just talking about this at work today. Someone suggested cutting it up and making things out of it (baby bonnet, handkerchief, pillows, teddy bear, Christening gown, first communion gown etc) I guess you could make some of those things with the train alone!

I may do this one day but for right now I had it preserved.  It's all nestled under our bed Smile

  • I kept mine (uncleaned) in the closet for a few years.  When my daughter was born, I decided I wanted it made into a baptismal gown for her and any future children.  It was cheaper to have the baptismal gown cleaned (after it was made, before she wore it) than the entire huge wedding dress.  I love how it turned out and have no regrets.  I still have some material left and may use it for a first communion dress or possibly a male baptism outfit should the need arise.
