  • We haven't done a fun poll in a while, so ....GO!

Favorite sweet treat? Do you make it yourself? Pumkin cheesecake---yup!

Favorite sweet treat someone else makes (that you just can't replicate)? My grandma makes the best cherry pie---I've tried to copy her recipe, but hers is so much better (probably b/c she uses lard)

Favorite for the holidays? frosted cookies dunked in coffee

Biggest baking disaster? I was staying at a friends house and wanted to suprise her by making muffins.  I turned on the oven to preheat while I mixed stuff up.  The kitchen stared to smell like burning plastic....because she kept ALL her tupperware in the oven.  Who stores meltable things in the freaking oven?!?!?

  • Favorite sweet treat? Do you make it yourself?

This varies so much.  I would say cookies with chocolate in them are my go to sweet treat. I bake cookies when I am at my parents house, but not very often in my apartment because I like to have more space and use a KitchenAid stand mixer.

Favorite sweet treat someone else makes (that you just can't replicate)?

My mom makes perfect chocolate chip cookies. I have her recipe and I can do a fair job, but hers are always better.

    Favorite for the holidays?

Homemade hot cocoa! We use the Hershey's baking cocoa recipe.

    Biggest baking disaster?

I made lemon cookies this summer to practice a recipe for the wedding cookie buffet and forgot to put flour in them. They didn't turn out so well. In general, I am pretty good at baking and weaker with cooking, although our apartment oven is really inconsistent so it's hard to know how long/what temp to bake things at.

What? Apparently the oven doesn't get used very often...

I do find the oven a good place to store the cookie sheet that we use several times a week, but never plastic.

  • Favorite sweet treat? Do you make it yourself?  I like to make the cake that I wanted for our wedding but didn't get.  Vanilla cake with creamy lemon filling.  yum yum.

Favorite sweet treat someone else makes (that you just can't replicate)?  My sister used to make a fantastic lemon fudge type slice.  I have been looking for the recipe for years.

Favorite for the holidays?  Christmas fruit mince pies!!!!!

Biggest baking disaster?  I had had heaps of disasters, but I keep on plugging on.

Hmmmm, seems I like lemon flavored things.  And Bummer about the tupperware, I bet you felt terrible!!!

  • Favorite sweet treat? Do you make it yourself? My specialty are snickerdoodles. The were the first cookie I learned how to make from scrach when I was about 10. DH is always telling people I make the best snickerdoodles ever. But I think my favorite to make and eat :) is a flourless chocolate cake

Favorite sweet treat someone else makes (that you just can't replicate)? My dads fudge he makes the best creamy fudge ever. I have the recipe and I've made it with him but it never turns out the same.

Favorite for the holidays? Dads fudge and sugar cookies with frosting! Yummy I cant wait to use all the Christmas cookie cutters was got as a wedding gift!

Biggest baking disaster? I tried to make scones from scrach once and must have added too much flour and not enough baking soda caus they did not rise at all. The looked like pancakes and spilled off the baking sheet. It ended up smoked up the whole house house. I attempted to fix on the second batch without any luck. All the "scones" and rest of the batter went into the garbage :(

  • Favorite sweet treat? Do you make it yourself?  Cupcakes.  I makes them.

Favorite sweet treat someone else makes (that you just can't replicate)?  Not to toot my own horn but I'm not sure there's such a thing.  I've done everything from creme brulee to making my own marshmallows to elaborate trifles to baked alaska.  My favorite from someone else has to be my grandmother's thumbprint cookies, which I haven't been able to get since 2000.

Favorite for the holidays? My chocolate bourbon pecan pie

Biggest baking disaster? I was trying a new recipe for chocolate cupcakes and they oversteamed in the oven and made a HUGE mess and almost set the oven on fire.  Other disasters include cracking an egg into a batter that was GREEN (never did that again, haha), and icing cupcakes that were still too warm and have them crack/become a mess (because I'm impatient like that).

  • Favorite sweet treat? Do you make it yourself? My all time favorite sweet treat is from this little caf? in London.  It was an apple tart.  Usually chocolate is more of my thing, but this was honestly the most delicious sweet I've ever had!

Favorite sweet treat someone else makes (that you just can't replicate)? I love the peanut butter rice krispies with the chocolate on top.  I honestly can't remember what they're called, but I've never tried to make them and I love it when other people give them to me.

Favorite for the holidays? Homemade apple pie or cheesecake!  I love making both of them!

Biggest baking disaster? I honestly don't know.  I used to burn cookies a lot because I would cook them fully in the oven, then let them cool a bit on the pan.  Now I know to take them out a few minutes before they're done so they finish cooking on the pan.

  • Favorite sweet treat? Do you make it yourself? i'm a chocolate chip cookie girl and i pride myself on the chocolate chip cookies i make. whenever there's a party i have to bake them or people will get upset!

Favorite sweet treat someone else makes (that you just can't replicate)? Fi's aunt makes awesome linzer tarts and bacclava...  she gave me the baklava recipe but i'm not sure if i can handle it

Favorite for the holidays? definately the bacclava. but if its something i make its magic cookie bars (or some people call them magic bars, or 7 layer cookies)

Biggest baking disaster? when i was about 14 or so i saw  a recipe for bunny brownies and they looked so cute i wanted to make them. well, you needed to cut out the shape of the bunny, frost it and decorate it and i just didnt have the patience for that. i didnt even get to the decorating part. i couldnt use the cookie cutter correctly and when i did, the brownies fell apart.. i still kind of suck at making brownies!
