So we are tossing around the idea of moving back up to the Edmond area in a year or so. We don't want to be in a high traffic area and we would like to live in a neighborhood that doesn't have houses extremely close together. Anyone know of where we would find somewhere like that? OR does anyone have suggestions on what neighborhoods are good (in a good school district, semi close to shopping, etc.).
I go back to work on the 29th, then I should be on here more often. I've been keeping busy at home cleaning, cooking and of course hanging out with little Colton.

Is this possible in Edmond? I really can't think of anywhere in Edmond where there isn't traffic. Have you thought about Deer Creek?
Ditto. The only area like that I can think of is FAR east Edmond, and over there you're looking mainly at houses that are in the $400,000+ range.
ETA: If you don't mind me asking, why are you wanting to move up there? It feels like it wasn't too much over a year ago that you moved where you're at now.
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
This! I moved to Edmond for my hubby back in July, I hate it! I just can't believe the traffic, anywhere in Edmond! No matter where I go, far East, West, etc it is horrible. And don't forget all the construction they do! They are constantly making the roads bigger etc because of all the traffic.
Besides that, the prices up here are just ridiculous! I can't wait for the day to move back down south! I find it sad that my 3 bedroom home is the same as a 4-5 bedroom back in the Moore area.
But if that's what you want, I say fast west Edmond, practically Deer Creek.
It makes me smile that you guys define Edmond as "horrible traffic." Our coworkers talk about that all of the time, so it must have changed over time (I know the city grew pretty rapidly and is now an exercise in urban sprawl
) Still, coming from another state, this is nothing
Sometimes during rush hour I have to wait 2-3 cycles to turn left through a stoplight. Sometimes in the northern suburbs of Columbus I'd quite literally have to wait 6-8 cycles to turn left through a light.
It does bother me, though, that we don't have a lot of really tasty, mid-priced local restaurants here. I would expect there to be more than there are, which is disappointing. In my dream world, we'd also get a Trader Joes (though I'd settle for a Whole Foods north or Forward Foods.)
You might also consider a couple of neighborhoods in Guthrie if you want to come north. DH works up there and it seems really quiet and peaceful outside of the main drag. I know nothing about the school system, though.
LOL, I was thinking this too. We are moving from the awful traffic that was Italy, drivers notorious for being extreme and pushy. Edmond is definitely not what I would describe as awful traffic. I may get flamed for this, it's not awful traffic, it is definitely awful drivers.
I live in Edmond and I don't see the traffic issue at all. I live on the west side, Deer Creek. I've been going to work later and I hit a slow down on Hefner Parkway around Hefner/Britton in the morning, but it is not that bad. One of the reasons I like this location is the good traffic. Even when driving into true Edmond I've never noticed a big traffic issue. I can't recall ever thinking traffic was bad. I see them expanding a lot of roads on the west side, not a big deal.
We looked at houses on the east and north side of Edmond, some had land. The issue for us was where our jobs were located and the increased commute time. There are lots of nice houses in east Edmond - I really wish I could get over the commute time and being further out.
I think I know where amanjay lives and it is a nice neighborhood.
The one thing I don't like about Deer Creek and west Edmond is some of the crappy houses...and lack of terrain/trees.
Cumberland Crossing seems likes a nice neighborhood in Deer Creek with land.
Wrong name...
Also, I used to live in south OKC, Moore and Norman. I would get to work POed because of the stupid drivers. There were so many accidents and people swerving in an out of traffic or going too slow. I used to take the back way to Tinker on county roads because I-35/240 used to aggravate me so much.
