Name Change

I changed my name at the DMV today, and it only took an hour! Plus, it was FREE! Yay!

Now I still have to change it at my credit union, payroll, health and life insurance, Doctor's Offices, and for my Notary Public. Oh, and on my car registration.

Other than the DMV, cell phone, and SS office (already done) am I missing anything??

So far the process has been fairly easy :)

I kept my maiden name on my DL as my middle name just so I would have some I.D. with it! It actually was handy this year. I had stock bequeathed to me and it was of course in my maiden name. No biggie.

yeah, i slacked off and didn't mail it back in time, so my passport is still in my maiden name.

  • My passport is still in my maiden name and it'll stay that way until I need it. I sort of kept it so I'd have an ID with it just in case. It has come in handy.
  • I also kept my maiden name as my middle name on my drivers license and SS card.

I don't have credit cards, utilities or a passport, so I don't have to worry about any of those.

I just called and changed my name and added DH to my car insurance, and it lowered my premium by $90/6 months. Hell yeah!!

  • I still need to change some of my stuff.  DL and SS card and a couple of other things are changed already, but I still need to do credit cards and such.  I think my biggest pain will be changing my professional license because the licensure office is full of morons.

  • Yea you've pretty much got it covered. Just remember all the Bills, etc. :) I still get bills in my maiden name, but they are mostly from BILL COLLECTORS (lol) or credit card companies wanting to give me a card. It's like "um, I'm married...as of 3 years ago" :)
