Yay, I'm "Officially" Married!
The Social Security card is changed, got my certified copy of the marriage license in the mail yesterday, and now my driver's license is changed, whew! Now I have to update the bank accounts and credit cards. Men have it so easy, don't they??
Re: Yay, I'm "Officially" Married!
Holy cow you just got your copy of the marriage license? I can't believe it took them so long!
But congrats on getting the other stuff done - and I'm a bit sheepish, because even though I've had my copy of the marriage license for two months, I just got my driver's license changed on Tuesday. You are way more on top of things!
Yes they do lol - congrats on making some progress!
I ran around changing my name on everything as soon as I got back from my honeymoon just to get it over with. Only thing left to change now is my passport.
I did my driver's license, social security, mortgage, car insurance, credit card, back accounts, health insurance, 401K, work (e-mail and ID, etc)...everything. PHEW! Only reason I haven't done the passport yet is because I didn't want to spend $100+ dollars just for them to give me a sticker. But it must be done so I'll suck it up soon.
The only thing I have left is my passport, although I'm sure some small little things might pop up. I am in no hurry to shell out the money for a new passport, though.
And what's this about just getting a sticker? You don't get a whole new passport? That's interesting.
Hello?
WTF I'm a newbie?!!? BS!!!!!
No, Laura, remember, I had to wait until after my delayed honeymoon to change my name on my documents since the cruise was booked in my maiden name. Also, NJ doesn't give you your marriage license automatically; you have to REQUEST a certified copy of it and pay $10!
Also, if your passport was issued less than a year ago, you can get it changed for free, but if it was issued more than a year ago, you have to purchase a whole new one, which really sucks because that's what I will have to do the next time I travel abroad!
woohoo! i did all of that the week we got back from our honeymoon EXCEPT the passport, as i dont know when we will need it next
i will not likely change it though, i will just book travel in my maiden name and use the passport with my maiden name.

Just because you had to wait to change it, doesn't mean you had to wait to request a copy. I didn't think about the fact that you might do that, sorry.
We have to pay for our copies, but they aren't as much as $10. Maybe $5?
Sure, I could've requested a copy earlier, but I didn't need it until now, so I waited until I actually needed it.
