Does your name get mispronounced often?
or spelled wrong?
I actually get people calling me Kate all the time. Its weird.
And people always spell it wrong by leaving out the "I".
Re: Another S/O Name Post
not necessarily mispronounced- just the wrong name. Instead of ChristinA it is ChristinE or Kristen etc
So sometimes it is spelled Christine...
Does your name get mispronounced often? YES! I am frequently called Louanne. It annoys the crap outta me because I really really dislike that name. Occaisonally people will call me Lauren or Lynn if they're really not listening/paying attention to me when I say my name.
or spelled wrong? YES! It's often spelled Louanne or some variation of it. Again, when people aren't listening/paying attention they'll write it down at Lauren/Lynn as well. My favorite was when I worked in TX someone told me I "spelled my name wrong on my name tag"..."Um, no. My name isn't what you think it is."
I get really angry when people don't listen to me when I say it, especially when I repeat it and they still don't listen. My name isn't difficult to say, people just don't listen. I also find it rude when people tell me my name is "weird/different"...it's just something in the way that they say it. Now if you tell me it's unique or they've never heard it before, that's much nicer.
Does your name get mispronounced often? Every day. I'm surprised when people actually pronounce it correctly... people think it's pronounced like it is in Something About Mary & SATC... but it's not. More like: "maug-da" than "mag (sounds like rag) da".
or spelled wrong? Yup
Not mispronounced, but I get Molly, Polly, etc a lot.
Usually it gets spelled right since my way is the most common. But now and then people will spell it -ie. The receptionist at HQ here spelled -ie in an email that she was responding to from me...even though my name was at the bottom (twice) and my first name is part of my email address. Total fail.

Kasi, so is your name pronounced more like Kah-see? Cause if so, I've been saying it in my head wrong forever
Confession: I think of Kara (MrsT2008) as Car-a...because I never knew if it was Care-a or Car-a and was too embarassed to ask. Again, I've probably been saying it wrong forever.
My name is pretty impossible to mispronouce. Sometimes people say Mag instead of Meg, though. I get a lot of hispanics that try to say my name and call me Mee-gahn, but I think it's kind of cute. It does get misspelled, people spell it Meghan and Meagan a lot.
This made me lol. I didn't think of that with Kara & I always think it the opposite way you do. But I was wondering if that happens to Ana alot too!
Oh yeah. My maiden name was quite the challenge

My name is pretty standard, my biggest annoyance is the Jen/Jenn thing, I'm a JENN.
My maiden name got butchered though.

In my head I've been saying Kasi's name wrong, as well as Ana's. I've always figured Kara was Care-a because my bff says her name that way although it's spelled Cara....
This post has been very informative.
I definitely say Kasi's name wrong in my head as well as Ana. I say Car-a for Kara. Very interesting post!
I usually get a lot of people saying "Aaron" instead of Erin. It is mostly an accent thing I think though. When I lived in NY it was alway Erin, when I moved to PA a lot of people say Aaron. I always tell them that's the boy name.
Erin = Aron/Aaron .. at least to me, they are pronounced the same .. it's only the spelling that's different.
