and i don't know what to do... he's so stressed with work, the house, the baby and preparing for everything. we don't even have a settlement date yet, but he's got boxes packed, everything removed from the walls, etc. and we're trying to figure out what all we need to do at the house before we move in, what other furniture we need, etc.
and we started our baby registry over the weekend. talk about overwhelming! we still have a list of things we need to research before we can add them. and he got $175 in best buy gift cards from his credit card points and we're going to use them to buy a video camera... something else he wants to research.
on top of all this, he's trying to quit smoking.
i'm trying to be supportive and reassuring that everything will work out and be fine, it just seems words aren't enough... any suggestions?
Re: DH is in a funk :(
you're probably already doing this, but maybe just helping him with the things that you can, like researching baby stuff, or something like that? just show him, without words, that you are there with him.
This! If you haven't gotten it yet, pick up this book. It helped us a ton in researching cribs, car seats and mattresses. It is all SO overwhelming!

It helped us a ton as well. I went through a mini freak out the other day because I got overwhelmed with everything that I feel like I need to get done now... or yesterday. haha I vented to DH and he helped me prioritize everything and gave me a big hug. That helped me relax a bit

thanks, ladies. i'll just keep doing my best. we're definitely sharing responsibilities. we do have baby bargains and i've done most of the baby research so far (well, does the bump count?
lol!). but we like to make the big decisions together.
just a lot going on right now...
I don't think you need to research everything, but you definitely want the safest car seats, cribs, pack n'play's, strollers. I don't know about everyone else, but we plan on researching everything that baby actually goes in.
Pam, you should offer him a bag of jelly beans if he quit smoking cold turkey. That's what I munched on when I quit a few years ago. It sure wasn't as good as a cig, but it gave my hands and mouth something to do. Replacing the physical habit is almost as important as getting over the cravings.
The Sand in My Snow Boots
That's a great idea too!
