Recommend a bed/bed retail store?

DW and I are going to start bed shopping and we're a little lost where to start.  We could really use some help getting started!

Edit: Changed "bad" to bed. haha.

Re: Recommend a bed/bed retail store?

  • Not sure if they are in your area, but I got ours at Sleepy's - a mattress store that carries lots of brands (and delivers)

  • Don't buy a Serta after about 7 years, our mattress started dipping in the middle and we had to replace it.  A salesperson (who didn't work on commission) told us that Serta does that.  So, instead we went with a Sealy. I would say buy the best you can afford.  Look in the phone book for mattress outlets.  A good night's sleep really does effect attitude, temper you name it!  I didn't really know this, 'cause I always had crappy mattress  at my parents house.  We bought a good bed first and saved for the rest of our furniture.  The bed is the most important piece. Lay down in the bed, if one of you is a stomach sleeper you'll need a lot more room.  I slept cramped for 7 years cause DH didn't want to spend $ on a King.  Now, we have one, and I sleep so good!

  • Are you looking for bed frames or mattresses? We looked at Colder's, Steinhafel's, American and other furniture stores around here.
  • i'm not sure what a bed/bed store is, but if you're looking for a mattress, i highly recommend the sleep number bed from select comfort, pricey, but totally worth it!

  • I'll chime in here with a recommendation for the Tempurpedic!  I've heard that most people tend to either love Tempurpedics and hate the sleep number beds, or vice versa...you should try out both to see which suits you better.  For DH and me, as soon as we laid on the Tempurpedic we felt the difference immediately and loved it.  Yes, they're expensive, but they last 20 years (and they come with a 20 year warranty!).  I can honestly say it's been our best investment purchase to date!
