I'm fashion challenged
To say the least.
I am 5'4" and sort of...hmmm....gooby. My excess weight is pretty evenly distributed throughout my body, though it has been collecting around my midsection in recent months. Can I wear tall boots (at the knees)? Can I wear tall, flat boots (because I am not skilled in wearing heels). Will skinny jeans (worn with boots) just make me look like an inverted triangle? HALP.

I am 5'3" and a gooby apple shape. I tried it a while back. Here are some pictures. I think I look a little top heavy but that it was not a terrible look.
