What are some things you wish your house had?
Are there or is it possible to put those wishes into action?
Re: Another home poll
No more wood paneling in our bedroom, new carpet, new bathroom all together, new paint in our kitchen, a 'real' basement (we have a michigan style basement....there is sooooo much stuff I would change!!!
We cannot do anything to it since it is my uncles house. We wanted to buy it but I dont think we will ever get approved for the ammount he wants to sell it for (redicously overpriced). So we may be moving in a year or two up to michigan.
Wish we had:
2 more bedrooms
1 more full bath
a larger dining room
hot tub
Feasible?
Bedrooms/Bathrooms/Dining room...no. Need to just buy a bigger house.
Hot tub...Very feasible and I think Santa may be considering one for next Christmas.
A finished basement and a attached garage.
We are putting our house for sale this spring, but it will never sell. We owe more than it is worth and we dont live in a "desirable" neighborhood. So I have NO idea what B's POA is.
Oh, about a million things! hahah
- More than one bathroom (!!!)
- Bigger kitchen, with space for a dishwasher that's not on wheels
- Fireplace
- Finished Basement
- Bigger front porch
- Attached garage
- Privacy fencing
And while we COULD make some of those changes, it just doesn't make sense to. So if we want those things, we'll have to move.
new carpet - doable and soon!
finished basement - probably not feasible, it's big and leaky
new bathroom - doable and relatively soon... got the new vanity, just need to take all the tile and plaster out, drywall in, new floor and a tub surround thing... yeah I can do that!
What are some things you wish your house had? Just more space... like another bedroom or two and another bathroom or two.... That's pretty much our only issue, because we love our house.
Are there or is it possible to put those wishes into action? Not possible to put on an addition here... We're just hoping to eventually find a larger Craftsman home around here, someday.
Bigger back yard.
) With a trampoline & a pretty big pool back there, there is no room! We plan on putting a deck up next year so that going to make it even smaller.
We are 1/2 done w/ remodel in the inside! Hoping to start the rest here soon!
The #1 thing that I want is more storage space. I would be more than willing to give up a little bit of living space to have more room to put things. We have tiny bedroom closets, and even tinier coat closet and no pantry. There isn't really a good place to add any additional closets though.
I would also love to have more than one bathroom, even if it was just a half bath.
A fenced in back yard for the dogs would be nice too, but with us being on an alley and having a detached garage we wouldn't be able to put up a fence and just let the dogs out unless we redid the almost brand new deck and moved the stairs to the side instead of the front.
I also want new flooring through the whole house and I want to redo the kitchen and bathroom.
We will probably do new flooring in the kitchen/bath/laundry soon... they are all rolled linoleum and they are all different which drives me a little crazy. I don't think we will do the rest for a while because we plan to rent out the house in the next few years and we are close to the university so we don't see the sense in changing things that will probably just be ruined by college students anyway.
I wish we had a master bathroom and a walk in closet, there is no way we are ever getting one unless we take out a bedroom upstairs.
At this point, I just want a house that is ours, lol. After that, I have a big 'ol wish list.
~Hardwood floors
~Lots of storage
~Walk-in closets
~New kitchen, preferably granite countertops, cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances
~Finished basement
Just for starters.

3 years married already??

I wish our house had another bedroom, a family room, and a full basement instead of a fruit cellar. I don't know how but this house is already too small for us.
We can't do anything to improve it either seeing that we're renting for now.... I can't wait until we're finally able to buy a house.
We still live in an apartment but are looking for our first house together as our lease is up in April. Our "wish list" for the new house is:
at least 3 bedrooms
2 full bathrooms
fireplace
big backyard
finished basement
lots of closet space (this is a must for us)
I wish we could have another full bathroom. Another bedroom will be nice eventually, but we good for now. C would also like another bay on our garage, but that is just because he loves cars. I wish we had flooring for our basement. The carpet was moldy and removed before we ever bought the house. I also would like a new bow window, new gutters, and a patio.
As for what is doable, we would have to add on to the house to get the extra bathroom, bedroom, and garage stall. It is a brick house, so finding brick that would match wouldn't be too easy or cheap. Plus, we would then be the most expensive house on the street, and I don't want that either. The rest is doable once I finally have a real job. lol
Our baby girl!!
I just wish all the work DH plans to do the house would just hurry up and get done. That...and I wish we did not have a Toledo address.
I see the work, for the most part, getting done by summer next year. The change of address...within the next five years. I hope.
I love the floor plan and structure of our house, so mostly my list is just cosmetic things, none of which are pressing what so ever
--A new sliding back door
--A retractable awning for the back porch area (my grandma has one and I love it)
--updated paint and plusher carpet in basement/playroom
-- a kitchen remodel that would include new laminate/wood floors in entryway, dining room and kitchen along with new cabinets and arrangement of them in the kitchen (this is probably our 10-15 yr. plan)
--I think it would be neat to put a door either in our kitchen where a window is or french doors off our dining room and have a deck out there that then had stairs to the lower level patio that already exists. After seeing what my brother paid for his deck, I think we'll settle for what we have currently.
