Re: Holiday Q(s)OTD
Have you started Christmas/Holiday shopping? We bought our Christmas tree (fake, obviously) and a few decorations for around the house. Shopping for gifts for others hasn't happened yet.
When do you put up Holiday decorations? We'll probably put them up either the Sunday after Thanksgiving or the weekend after... it all depends on when we get back that Sunday.
Are you doing anything special to recognize your first Christmas/Hanukkah together as a married couple? I highly doubt it.
What do you think of using wedding pictures as a holiday gift for family? A professional album-type, I can deal with. But it really bugs me when people think a framed wedding photo is a present. I believe it is more of a nice gesture to your parents (or whoever you are giving it to) verses being their present.
Have you started Christmas/Holiday shopping? Yes, I am almost done!
When do you put up Holiday decorations? We aren't putting any up this year since we are moving, but usually we do it by the first week of December.
Are you doing anything special to recognize your first Christmas/Hanukkah together as a married couple? DH wants to save our Christmas card every year starting this year. I may also try to get an ornament to recognize the year.
What do you think of using wedding pictures as a holiday gift for family? I agree with Misa and Holly that it is not really a gift. We won't be giving any family members wedding photos.

Have you started Christmas/Holiday shopping? No, not sure when this will start. Not even sure what I'm buying yet! Or for who!
When do you put up Holiday decorations? Generally, we do like a week before Christmas. This year I am starting the weekend after Thanksgiving and I can't wait!
Are you doing anything special to recognize your first Christmas/Hanukkah together as a married couple? Probably not. Maybe get a fun new ornament? I'm not sure.
What do you think of using wedding pictures as a holiday gift for family? I think the only time it is acceptable is when it's your mom or someone close. Personally, I'd feel weird with someone else's framed wedding picture in my house unless it was my child.
Shopping Nope! I have no clue what to get ANYONE on our very large list! Lack of money isn't helping that.
Decorations Tradition is the day after Thanksgiving. DH gave me the ok to put them up any time I want; it may be this weekend or it may be next weekend. Sometime soon!
First Christmas We bought new stocking last night, but I don't know if we'll do anything else special or not. I was kinda waiting till we had kids to start our own traditions. I'm sure it'll only be another couple years.
Wedding Pics We're incorporating them into our holiday cards; I may use wedding photos for our grandparents' gifts. Parents already have their albums; not sure I'll go that route for them. I make calendars for me, sis, mom, and gma on Snapfish every year, though; I'll be incorporating a few into that.
Since our board has been a little more lively lately I thought I would continue with a few QOTD.
Have you started Christmas/Holiday shopping?
I'm actually finished! I got really lucky this year since we got the parents and grandparents professional photo albums from the wedding. That just left the nephews, my sister, and each other. I've never started this early before, let alone been finished already!
When do you put up Holiday decorations?
I usually put them up about two weeks before Christmas. This year, I'll be traveling almost the entire month DH doesn't want to decorate without me and we are heading to PA to see my family over Christmas so we're skipping the decorations at our house. We are going to hang stockings though, those are easy and fun.
Are you doing anything special to recognize your first Christmas/Hanukkah together as a married couple?
We are getting a customized ornament and exchanging our gifts privately before we go see my family Christmas morning.
What do you think of using wedding pictures as a holiday gift for family?
I think if they want it, it's a professional album and you put some thought into it's fine. If you just give them a picture in a frame unsolicited than it's a little AWish. My parents, DH's parents, both sets of grandparents and both of our sisters specifically said they wanted a wedding album for Christmas. So that's what we did. It made it nice to get them all knocked out at once and I know they will get what they want. For everyone else though that isn't family we aren't using wedding pictures.
Have you started Christmas/Holiday shopping?
Not yet. Probably soon, though.
When do you put up Holiday decorations?
Right after Thanksgiving! Even though I already started listening to Christmas music.
Are you doing anything special to recognize your first Christmas/Hanukkah together as a married couple?
We have non-traditional Christmas cards. We do silly poses and sometimes silly faces and give it out to everyone. I did a few silly poses in our wedding garb so that'll be fun.
What do you think of using wedding pictures as a holiday gift for family?
Eh. Most of family have seen them.
Have you started Christmas/Holiday shopping? I started a little bit yesterday and ordered Hallie a few things from TRU. DH will be the hardest though. I *think* I have a indea of what everyone is getting though.
When do you put up Holiday decorations? Decorations will go up over Thanksgiving weekend but since we get a real tree that will happen the second weekend of December.
Are you doing anything special to recognize your first Christmas/Hanukkah together as a married couple? Not really. I'm going to order some sort of personalized ornament but that's about it.
What do you think of using wedding pictures as a holiday gift for family? I had an idea for a Christmas card but since I haven't gotten knocked up yet that's out the window. I'll probably incorporate a wedding picture or two into the card. We haven't given our parents their albums yet (I've only finished my mom's) so if I get his mom's done in time they'll get that. His parents are difficult to buy for so while I don't like giving them this as a "present" i don't really have a choice.
Have you started Christmas/Holiday shopping? Started it, but still have some to do.
When do you put up Holiday decorations? We will probably start decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving. If we don't get to it, then we will do it the following weekend.
Are you doing anything special to recognize your first Christmas/Hanukkah together as a married couple? The baby is due 2 weeks before Christmas. So we will be getting our present early. Plus this will be the first Christmas we don't go anywhere. We are staying home and celebrating as a family.
What do you think of using wedding pictures as a holiday gift for family? Not if it is what they want. We are getting my parents and his parents wedding albums. It is something they both want.
Have you started Christmas/Holiday shopping? I have bought a few things, but nothing significant. We're having a quiet, small Christmas/Hanukkah this year. We're getting new carpet and maybe a TV, which is taking a huge chunk of our budget.
When do you put up Holiday decorations? We'll probably put them up after the new carpet goes in, which should be the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Are you doing anything special to recognize your first Christmas/Hanukkah together as a married couple? I highly doubt it.
What do you think of using wedding pictures as a holiday gift for family? Not really, but this will be what we're doing for at least my Dad. He specifically requested no gifts and is contemplating a move from CA to HI. He also has just about everything he could want or need. No idea what we'll do for DH's family.
