Making two new-to-some things tonight!
For dinner, I am making one thing that I have never had, and one thing that DH has never had. It's very exciting.
For me, it's artichokes. I'm going to go simple and steam them with wine and lemon juice and stuff and have melted garlic butter for dipping.
For DH, it's fried okra. He's actually never had okra in any way other than pickled, which I learned last night. I PPH fried okra.
That and a bunch of cookies, but those are being donated to a bake sale.

My Randomness Blog!!
Shrimp eyeballs! That's awesome.
I have a funny story about that, but it's not related to food.
My dad was career Navy. When I was a kid (like early high-school), he told me that when he sees women in high heels that have big poofy flowers on them, it reminds him of the prostitutes he would see on the streets when he was in the Phillipines. Ever since then, I have not been able to wear shoes with any kind of flower on them.
When he bought my mom a pair of sandals with a big flower on them, I reminded him of that story. He laughed so hard he nearly fell out of his chair! He doesn't remember telling me about that. Not one bit.
I still can't wear shoes with flowers.

The Sand in My Snow Boots
It's a little green vegetable typicallys seen in the south. I actually hate okra by itself, it grosses me out. But I could eat fried okra all day long.
