Blog
Our Xmas list is short this year
My parents $50 ea.
My brother $50
My aunt and three younger cousins $25 ea.
His uncle (is like his dad to him) $50
My grandparents $25 ea.
His mom & sibling $50 gift certificate
Eachother $100
And that's all folks.
I'll also be baking cookies, brittle and truffles to give to the rest of the family. BTW, I always go over budget when it comes to X-mas. I always like to give, give, give and it drives him crazy.
On parents: It varies, last year we spent $200 on my mom and probably $40 on DH's parents.
On each other: We try not to get each other gifts, if we do it is something little max $20.
My grandma: $50, we usually give a gift card or put money towards her heating oil account.
ETA:
Siblings: Nothing for mine. Max $40 for BIL.
Nieces & Nephews: Usually around $25 give or take.
Each other: $100-$150...just depends
Parents: My parents $50ish...sometimes together, sometimes each
His parents: $25ish but they don't do christmas but I just can't not get anything
One set of his g-parents: 25ish...gift card usually
BIL: 25, if anything. Last year we got crap for getting him and his FI a gift so prob won't do anything this year to save the fuss although it will bother me.
My 2 sisters and BILs: 25ish...this year I'm buying them pictures of their kiddos and that's $80 for sitting fee plus the cost of pics but can't help it.
Nieces/nephew: usually I go crazy but this year, they will get 1-2 outfits and 1-2 toys.
I have no budget and just buy whatever I think they'll like/need. I love Christmas time!
On parents: 50 each parent
Each Other: he spends on me-250, I spend on him-150
Siblings: $50
Nieces/nephews: I don't have any YET!
Coworkers: nothing, there is only 3 of us in the office and the other two are men.
I guess we'll find out what our "budget" is when we spend it.
It varies. Last year and the year before we went a bit crazy. We're definitely not going to do it this year.
Parents: under $100 (my mom asked for a photobook that I'll get with a coupon and his parents asked for dinner with us at a local restaurant with really amazing crab cake)
Siblings: $0. I'm an only child and BIL says not to get him anything and just get something small for the kids.
Nephews: $50ish I think.
Each other: $200ish. Depending on what we want. H's stuff is more expensive than what I want this year.
Other: $200 total. $40 for my two secret santa things, a gift for my godmother, if I do anything for coworkers, and maybe something small for my aunt and cousin who I'm really close with.
Married / The Cookaholic Wife
It all varies by year, we don't set exact amounts. But we do try to spend the same dollar amount on mom, brother and ILs. Every year, DH and I set an amount for each other ($50 or below) and end up going WAY over. We just love to buy gifts.
We draw names for DH's extended fam (aunts, cousins, etc) and that limit is $50.
My friends and I also do white elephant (the good kind) and that limit is $20.
No kids to buy for, I usually like to do a giving tree thing and splurge on our ring bearer (friend's son)
Coworkers usually get baked goods, if I'm in the mood.
We don't exhange with my mom and stepdad. Dad and Carol about $100 total. Inlaws around $50 total. We used to do a lot more but their son got sick of it and cut it down.
We don't exchange with his two sisters and my one brother. My youngest brother gets $50, and his younger brother gets $50.
Nieces and nephews $50-$75 each.
Grandparents $30-50 each.
Gag gifts for a few friends.
Nothing with coworkers.
Between us varies. This year our limit is $125. We both always go over.
