If you are having friends over...

what do you serve for dinner? I need some ideas. I tend to get way too many ideas/ recipes/ concepts into my head and try to make them all fit. Right now my brain is just mush with ideas and I need to figure out dinner for tomorrow.

What do you like to serve when you have a couple (or company in general) over?

What is a favorite thing you've had when you've been company yourself?

Thanks ladies!

  • My aunt gave me this orange plum Cornish game hen recipe and I love it for dinner parties. It looks super fancy and is actually really easy to make and is really yummy. I have the recipe at home, but could probably get DH to email to me if you are interested.

  • I always do my spinach artichoke dip in my mini-crock and have veggies, bread and crackers out since every always hangs out in our kitchen.Or some kind of serve yourself bruschetta.

My favorite dish to  make is a roast chicken (engagement chicken), with a garlic and/or cheddar twice baked mashed potato's. (easy to do ahead of time and just pop in the oven right before) and depending on the guests I will make something green (roasted brussels sprouts, fancy green beans, salad etc.) and chocolate pie for dessert!

I also have made eggplant parm with a fancy salad. Just depends on whats in season to what kind of veggies I use.

For some reason, I am the cook in our group of friends, so its not often that we are invited to our friends house for dinner, we normally go out instead!

  • Thanks ladies!

I've never made cornish hen... I'd love to see the recipe for another time!

Crystal- that's basically what I do too. I was feeling a bit bored with that but I found a new chicken roaster recipe that sounds interesting and seasonal. Thanks!

  • I love cornish hens, but I have never attempted to make them either! I'd like to see the recipe too!

  • We do dinners with our friends all the time. We do a lot of fun type dinners...like taco night or homemade pizza night....typically who evers house its at does the main part and everyone else brings sides/toppings. Another good meal is I make a big pot of soup in the slow cooker and make homemade bread, that's always a favorite in fall or winter. We are having a fish fry this weekend at my bff's house for the first time...hopefully it all turns out well!
