I need to quit one of my jobs...turned VENT

I think most of you know, I FINALLY got a job teaching Math.  I work there 5 days a week.

I also tutor for 3 hours a day/3 days a week at a nearby elementary school for State Testing Prep.

On top of that, I do an after school program 2 days a week that lasts from 3:45-6:30.

I've also been doing some side tutoring for a couple hours a week.

I also still have my part-time job at the Y.  I've worked there for almost 10 years, since I was in high school.  I asked to be scheduled two Saturdays a month, just so I can keep up with all of our regular members and employees.  I like being there.  I definitely don't do it for money. They just sent me my December schedule and on top of those two Saturdays, they scheduled me FIVE days (8am-5pm) over break.  One of those days is Christmas Eve.  Maybe it's just me but one of the advantages of being a teacher is I get to enjoy time with my family over break - especially my mom who just started teaching nursing and also has a break during that time.  In college, the office really depended on me doing everything and now I feel like they need to let go a little.  =(  Am I wrong?

*This was a whiny post but I'm just so livid that he had the nerve to schedule me!  If I get those days off, I promise to make pumpkin roll for everyone who read this!  Smile

  • I understand the predicament and since you've been with the Y for so long you don't want to burn any bridges... but, you asked for only 2 Saturdays a month. You just need to tell whoever scheduled you that you won't be in because it conflicts with your schedule. They don't need to know anything else or need any other explanation. IMO what they did is not fair and it sounds like they're taking advantage now.

This exactly!  I hope you can work something out so you're not working your entire holiday break.

  • You sound like a very busy lady!  Hope they can work with you on your schedule and you are able to enjoy break
