Re: FFFC's

  • People that brag excessively annoy me. I have a classmate that goes on and on about how much dh earns, (numbers here) the type of cars they drive, and how much they travel.

It always make me assume you are overcompensating. If our worth is based on what we have then to be quite honest, are we really worth much?

  • My sister went and saw Harry Potter last night - when we'd made arrangements to go see it together on Tuesday. We've seen five of the last six movies together, and while I shouldn't be upset about it because it's just a movie...I was upset. And I lied and said it was OK for her to see it because I didn't want to start an argument about it. Bagh.

I feel like my parents are outdoing me for JJ's birthday and Christmas. I mean, that's fine and all because they're grandparents, but...I feel like I need to spend more to win his affection and attention. I told my mom I was getting him a tricycle for his birthday and basketball goal for Christmas - awesome. Then, my mom tells me earlier this week she and my dad are getting him a Toy Story convertible for his birthday and possibly a play kitchen for Christmas. Well...he's definitely not gonna want the trike after he figures out how to work that present. I know they mean well and that it's not a competition for them, but still.

  • I have another one, Christmas presents. I have a large family and currently have 12 nieces/nephews. We buy them all a gift (always under $30) and for the past 2 Christmases have YET to receive a gift from my brother and his wife. Please let me add that they have 3 kids.

I think it is really rude to receive a gift for your kids and not return the favor. It's only dh/me so it's not like you have to even buy 2 gifts. I was so angry that I wanted to tell my brother/SIL that we wouldn't buy their kids any more gifts because of their selfishness.

Of course I would never do this to my nephews/niece, I love them dearly but still feel as though we are being used in many ways.

I feel like this a lot too.  My parents always want to get the best gift.  I will say though, that for V's 2nd birthday they got him a Power Wheels car and one of the things we got him was a little kids guitar thing.  They wanted him to get his Power Wheels last and he saw it and went right back to his guitar.  My dad asked him later what his favorite gift was (hoping I'm sure that he would say the car) and he said the guitar.  Wink

  • I think it's lame that some teachers are so anti-spirit week. They refuse to dress up for the fun days and grumble about losing educational time. I understand that when the kids get out of uniform, it can be a little more difficult to keep their attention; however, if you are a good teacher, you could teach in any situation here. It's not like the kids are running around beating each other up, they are wearing suspenders and having fun. Oh my god, fun. How dare they Wink

  • I give a big side eye to people who have kids who are exactly 13 months apart. That can't be healthy for your body because it didn't have time to recover. Plus it shows me that you are not educated enough about your body.

I know someone who after they had their first child didn't "know" that you could get pregnant while you are brestfeeding so they ended up pregnant before the 6 weeks mark. They now have 3 under 3 (they had twins the second time).

Man, I totally agree. Every time I hear that kind of thing, I know they've got to be hurting in the self-esteem department. No need to flaunt.

I have two friends who are 11 months apart. Just blows my mind...I didn't feel like myself for months.

  • I hate when people use the whole "God has blessed me so much, I just love my new car, house, hubby for getting me new diamond earings, yada yada yada." line to brag on facebook.  It totally annoys me.  I just hate when people use their "blessings" to brag in general.

  • Hmm...I can't think of a good one.

I suppose that some people would think it's controversial that one of my male friends and I are going out together tomorrow night (his wife is out of town and my DH has to work) so we're going out for Indian food---which both of our spouses hate---and the school musical together (which I think my DH would rather ram hot pokers through his eyes than go to), but since it's not a big deal to any of the four of us, I'm not sure it's all that flammable. I do recognize it may not be the norm, though---let me make a post about it.
