I'm really pissed off at my GD dietician

I know there are other people on this board that have had to see her too and aren't fond of her. My fasting numbers have been a mess for the last week, higher than they have ever been, since they upped my meds, my OB thinks that's because my blood sugars may be getting too low at night and then rebounding. The reason my meds were increased is what pisses me off, she lied to my OB about how high my numbers were to get them to increase my meds. Now I have to wake up at 3 am for the next couple of days and check my blood sugars to see if I am getting low blood sugars in the middle of the night. ugh.

Re: I'm really pissed off at my GD dietician

  • OMFG! I would be so mad.

I would call your OB and tell her.

I found out from my OB, who basically said, oh, she may have fudged your numbers so we would up the meds because she likes to keep the numbers under tighter control than we do, but I didn't have my book of blood sugars with me to prove it.

  • Thats bull crap! I'm really surprised you see/talk with your GD dietician still. The one that I went to only saw me twice(the initial visit to her and then when I needed to be put on insulin-and I didn't even see her the second time). I had to take my numbers to the doctor at Maternal-Fetal medicine and he's  the one who would let me know how they were going.

I'm sorry you have to deal with such a which. Couldn't you get your doctor your numbers and show them that they were fudged? Would you or will you say anything to her about fudging your numbers??

  • That is really crappy.  I would be pissed at my OB too, for thinking it's no big deal for your dietician to fudge your numbers.  As if pregnancy isn't stressful enough, you have to deal with that craziness.
  • That is ridiculous!!!!     GD can have two equally appropriate meanings in this title. :)

  • I'm even more pissed off about it today, that woman totally ignored everything I said to her and responded that my dose of meds obviously isn't high enough. When my OB office calls me later today I'm telling them I'm done with her.
  • You could report her to the board. It is a violation of her license to do such things. She cannot control what a medical professional has prescribed you by lying about your blood sugar numbers....its unprofessional and unethical, not to mention dangerous. Insulin and Diabetes medications can be very tempermental...She is not an M.D. and has no place trying to control your medical treatment in such ways. I would highly suggest you talk to her supervisor as well as calling the licensing board for diabetes nutritionists and educators.

I was researching through my numbers this evening trying to figure out if I was wrong or where she got that from, and I figured out that the 3 high numbers she reported to my OB were from 3 weeks ago and my numbers had been fine since then. So she didn't exactly lie, but in a way she still did to get the OBs to do what she wanted, KWIM? ugh. I plan on checking my blood sugars around 3am like my OB suggested and going from there. I'm sure my OB office will be calling me on Monday since I didn't hear from them today about her newest suggested dose increase.
