Healthy/weight loss lunch options?

What do you guys make and eat at home or at work for lunches that are healthy and/or help with weight loss?

Re: Healthy/weight loss lunch options?

  • I'm a sandwich girl and have been using those thin "pancakes" as DH calls them for bread or just taking a half sandwich to save on calories.

Salads are the best options, with flavor toppings like cranberries, turkey, and almonds with a poppyseed dressing.

I've found mostly snacking on high fiber/low cal things helps me feel like I'm eating more but I'm really not.

  • If I am packing a lunch I would generally do a turkey sandwich (no cheese or mayo) with carrot sticks and pretzels. Soup is a good option too if you like broth based soups.

  • Bag of popped light popcorn, an apple, and 2% cheese.

Wheat couscous with chx (buy a roasted chx from kroger/meijer and shred it), cucumbers, red peppers and toss with some light italian dressing.

Cut up veggies and eat with light laughing cow cheese, chx, a piece of fruit.

I hate it but I chug a can of low-sodium v8 juice every day for a serving of veg.

As many low/no carb lean cuisine, etc. meals...like chx/veg or beef and brocc.  Find one with a veg instead of a carb.

V8 also makes some good soups (southwestern corn, tomato basil, red pepper, broccoli)

Tuna on a salad with veggies.  The ones in pouches are great for at work since there are no liquids in them.

Buy frozen shrimp and defrost.  Put on a salad for variety.  Same goes for salmon.

    Hummus with baked pita.

In freezer section, Green Giant makes individual veggies sides that you can throw into your lunch bag.

    Cottage cheese with fruit.

This is all stuff I do so sorry for the long list but it was easy for me to think of!

  • I do mostly veggies with hummus for lunch and then have a snack of an apple, banana or yogurt at sometime through out the day too with a handful of almonds.
