Book recommendations for my husband.

I want to get my husband a book for Christmas.  He doesn't do a lot of reading, but he does some.

Two books that he's really enjoyed are The DaVinci Code and The Defining Moment (about FDR's first 100 days in office).

He hasn't loved any of the Dan Brown books he's read besides The DaVinci Code.

I know this isn't much to go on, but does anyone by chance have any suggestions for me?

Thanks!

Re: Book recommendations for my husband.

  • My husband is the same as yours.  He really liked DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons.  He loved Devil in the White City which is about the World's Fair in Chicago in 1896, the building up of the city and at the same time the nations first sociopath serial killer.  Its based on fact, which my husband prefers.  He also really liked Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth and is now reading the sequel World Without End.   I've also read both.  They are about 1000 pages, though, so they may last him until next Christmas.  =)

  • Thanks, Goodgollie!  I have read Devil in the White City, actually.  Interesting book.  I'll look into the other ones you recommended.
  • DH is enjoying the Stieg Larsson books (Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, etc.), Team of Rivals (about Prez Lincoln and his Cabinet), anything by David McCullough, and anything by Douglas Coupland.

  • "Profiles in Courage" or "Write it When I'm Gone" (going with the Presidential theme)

  • Ditto Kater's Stieg books... the H read the trilogy. We both really love Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card and there is a series that goes with that, too, if he ends up getting into them.

  • Thanks, ladies!  This helps a lot.
  • Maybe the new John Grisham one?
