Laundering a down-comforter?
We've had ours for about 7 years now and it's still in great shape, but I'm embarrassed to say that we've never laundered it. What do you do to clean your down-comforter?
Re: Laundering a down-comforter?
I wash mine on the gentle cycle and dry it on medium heat.
I do it once a month.
smaller ones (like full sized) I throw in our high capacity washer/dryer. Dry it with a few tennis balls to help keep the feathers from clumping.
Larger ones (our king sized) I take to the cleaners.
Tennis balls or clean sneakers in the dryer will help fluff up the down. Gentle cycle and woolite if you have it.
I've heard large capacity, front-loading washers are best, so you might want to take it to a laundromat. Unless it's small, in which case it will fit easily in a TL machine, so don't worry about it.

I have been washing mine for years the same way a PPs, but I do recommend using about 1/2 the detergent, since it is such a bulky item and may not rinse as well as other items. The tennis balls work great for fluffing in the dryer. I dry mine on low for 3/4 of the way and no heat for the rest.
