I may not be a mommy yet....

.....but I am going to be an auntie!!!!

DH and I just found out that his brother and SIL will be celebrating another birthday next June. This will be our first niece or nephew. It's so weird to think that next summer I will have a someone to call my niece or nephew. That kid is going to be so spoiled!

Also do you think it is weird that I keep thinking that if we do end up getting pregnant within the next month or so that they might think we are trying to "copy" them or steal their thunder? I am so afraid that they are going to think that since we have been actively trying. Although if we do it will be nice because they will be close in age then.

  • Congrats on being an auntie and to your BIL/SIL! Thats awesome.

Def dont feel weird, you were both trying at the same time, lots of siblings have kids close together. I dont think for a minute they would think you were trying to steal their thunder.  This is all the more reason for you guys to keep trying so your kids can be close in age!

Don't worry about kids being close in age. Actually, I think it would be awesome. My mom and her twin sister had daughters three months apart. A large portion of my memories growing up are with that cousin. We have an awesome relationship now and have discussed that we would LOVE to have kids as close in age as we were.

I wouldn't worry too much. I was just telling DH that I wish I knew at least one person IRL who was pregnant at the same time so that we could share the experience. I already have a neice but she will be 2 yoa which isn't that far off.

  • Congrats, Auntie to be!

Don't worry about them feeling you're stealing any thunder (they are not Thor - they do not have thunder to steal). :-) Babies are to be celebrated!  And how wonderful if cousins can be so close in age!  I have a cousin 6 months younger than me and it's nice that we are close in age like that.

Congrats, Auntie! I wish we had a niece or nephew, so I'm jealous. Smile I don't think that they'll feel like you're stealing their thunder; if you were having a kid just to copy them, that would rank right up there as one of the all-time worst reasons for making a life-altering decision! LOL

  • Congrats! Being an Aunt is great, I have a 1 1/2 year old neice =] And I agree with pp's, don't worry about them thinking your copying them. I have a cousin who is 4 months younger than me and we did alot together when we were little. I loved having someone so close to my age to play with.
