Puppy Chow Recipe

Does anyone have a good recipe?  I know you can get one online, but people make comments with variations.  So, I'm looking for a recipe that you have used and love.  ;-)  tia!

Re: Puppy Chow Recipe

  • I make it every year. I don't use a recipe thou. I just throw it all together.

And I LOVE PB so I always add more than a "normal" recipe would call for.

    1 box Chex Rice Cereal

    1 bag semi sweet chocolate

    2tablespoon PB

    1# powder sugar.

Melt you chocolate in a microwave safe bowl 30 seconds, stir, repeat until completly metled. Once melted, stir in your PB.

Pour you cereal in a LARGE bowl. Add your chocolate/PB mixture and lightly mix/stir. Then in small amounts start adding your Powder sugar and toss. Keep adding your powder sugar until all your cereal is covered.

**you can also add peanuts if you want.

  • Thanks Angi!  So.. is the 2T of PB what you use or you use more then that?
  • I use more than that. I think I use like 1/4 of a jar. Ha!
  • I'll save this for later.  I made it last year in the microwave and it was a total fail!  I think my chocolate got messed up somehow, perhaps too overdone.

  • I make mine on the stove...

    1 cup peanut butter
    1 stick of butter
2c chocolate chips (I use milk choc, most call for semi-sweet)
    1 teaspoon vanilla
Whole box of  chex or crispex cereal (any flavor)
    Enough powder sugar to cover.

Heat choc chips, PB, butter on low heat until fully melted. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Add cereal to mixture.

To cover in powder sugar I put about a cup of sugar in to a gallon ziploc bag and shake until fully covered (adding more powder sugar if necessary) and pour on to wax paper to cool... repeat with second half of cereal mixture.

  • Someone else told me they used butter too, but not the vanilla.  Hmm.. we will have so many people at Thanksgiving that maybe I'll make it both ways ;-)  Thanks girls!
