Dreading tomorrow...
Tomorrow, I will lift the spirits of some children to the stars and crush the hopes of others, all with the same piece of paper. That's right, tomorrow, the cast list for Guys and Dolls Jr. will be posted. I want to get this list up before Thanksgiving so that we can meet with the cast very briefly before rehearsals begin on the 29th, but I am dreading tomorrow.
I hate casting shows and selecting members for select groups. I hate breaking the hearts of kids who want something so badly and just can't reach it. We are casting 44 kids, we had more than 80 audition. I can't take 80 kids, and we protect ourselves by cutting as many as we are. But man, I hate it. I want to just hide out and not worry about the kids when they see the list. ugh.
I really wish that the kids could understand that I hate casting more than they hate auditioning.
