Work Vent!

So I have this client who emailed me Friday after 3 asking for me to resend something to her.  Well, I didn't get around to answering her email.  This morning when I was going through my faxes she faxed me, twice.  She was getting mad because I had not answered her.  I felt like telling her that I do not revolve my life around my email and that she is not the only client I have.  I had already sent what she needed and she lost it.  It drives me nuts.  If it is so important, pick up the phone.  So this morning when I got around to answering her email I told her that my system was down Friday afternoon and was not able to do it.

I have another client who if I don't answer her email within 30 sec then she picks up the phone and emails me.

I swear my clients think I have nothing better to do then wait for them to email me!

  • @ the risk of sounding bitchy.. If your $$ is dependent upon your clients, then I think they kind of have the right to be wondering why you are not responding to them. I think 30 seconds is a little much.

If the only way your clients communicate w/ you is through e-mail you should probably check your e-mail more often.

I keep my e-mail open all day. Sometimes the Dr e-mails me patient information, or other things he needs me to do. That is my job, so I feel like I should atleast check my email fairly often to ensure that I am getting things done that he needs done.

    That's just my opinion though.

  • I totally understand what you are saying.  But, these two clients seem to think they are my only clients.  I have over5,000 clients to deal with on a daily basis as well as all my other tasks I have to complete.  They just don't seem to understand that sometimes.
  • I totally hear you.  I'm in juvenile court so now I have to deal with kids who don't care and their parents who either don't care or care too much.  I've had a couple recently who call me ALL.DAY.  Hello, I'm a lawyer, I'm in court all day.  Remember how I was in court with your kid at 1:00 on a Monday?  Yeah, I have a whole bunch of other clients just like that...  And what annoys me most is that most people don't leave voicemail.  I'll have 15 missed calls and no voicemail.  If you can't be bothered to leave a message, it must not be that important.

+1. my email is up from the minute I turn on my computer until the minute I leave for the day. For the most part, my emails are answered within 15 minutes and that is something I pride myself on.
