Need advice on neighborhoods in McKinney

Hello DFW nesties!

I'm not from Texas, but my BF recently got a job offer in McKinney and we are considering moving.  We will be in the area in a couple of weeks to look at some neighborhoods and I would appreciate any advice/ideas you all can suggest.  Most likely we'd be looking at homes in the 2,000 sq ft range. Right now I'm looking at the Stonebridge Ranch community and wondered if anyone knew anything about it.  I'd appreciate any other neighborhoods to consider...

Thanks!

Re: Need advice on neighborhoods in McKinney

  • Do you mind posting your budget?
  • Frankly, I'm not sure what his budget is, I just know that we're looking at homes that would be an appropriate size for two people, no kids.

  • Stonebridge  is a HUGE community that takes up a good portion of the West side of Mckinney. You might look into more specific neighborhoods within Stonebridge. Some of the neighborhoods have huge homes and others have some that would be more appropriate for a smaller family.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for in a neighborhood, but the newer homes are on the West side of Mckinney. You might also check out Eldorado Heights and Westridge. Both of those definitely have a large selection of homes around 2,000 sq ft.

  • Also check out Craig Ranch and The Heights at Westridge.

  • Thanks so much!  I'll take a look into all of these!
  • I agree with the previous posters...Stonebridge Ranch (and Craig Ranch, now that I think about it) are wonderful...I live in Westridge right now, but the homes in this subdivision are definitely "starter home" types.  If you're looking for something smaller and simpler to start out with, that's a good bet...we purchased it as a 5-year home and now are listing it to sell to move up to something more long-term, like what you find in Stonebridge Ranch.  Really, it depends on your budget and your life plans in the near future!
