And so the Christmas craziness begins. Working retail has irrevocably screwed up the holiday season for me. I just want it to be over with. I don't want to deal with the people who think the "Gaming" sign means "babysitter while you shop the rest of the store" I don't wanna deal with the people yelling at me because the store doesn't have something in stock (cause that's *my* fault, right?) or the people who get mad because it's taking me a while to find a game for them when I'm explaining to a sweet little old couple how to use the Wii they are buying for their grandkids. I really hope my husband gets this job with the FAA because if I have to work one more Christmas season in retail I swear I am going to explode. Nine years is enough!
*the end*
Re: Ugh! (grumpy)
My thoughts are with you.
I did a few year in a toy store and can understand your pain. Especially about people leaving their kids in the store while they shop, not cool!!
Fingers crossed this is the end of retail for you.
I work retail at times too, when not performing or teaching (my mom runs a shop) and we live in a pretty quaint, but privileged area, and so we get a bunch of entitled shoppers. Even so, there are still positive moments to the holiday experience.
I enjoy seeing people happy with the gifts they've chosen, and we have baked goods and cider to give away (it's a high end kitchen boutique) and in general people are happy.
Yes, there are jerks, and yes, I want to stab people in the eyes sometimes because they are so ridiculous and rude...but I'm sure you have some customers who are friendly and nice too. Think of them, even if you only get one of them per day.
Those are the only ones worth thinking about at all. The miserable ones were miserable before they got to your store.
I hope you get your wish, but just hang in there...! :-)
