Here's the dilemma. I want to get DH a PS3 for Christmas. I'm definitely splurging a bit but he deserves it since he has been so good at giving up some things to help pay off the wedding. On Black Friday there are a lot of bundle deals that I am checking out. The issue is, we have a joint bank account now and DH is the one that pays bills and balances the check book so if he sees a purchase for $299, I think he will get suspicious. And, if I just take out cash, he might still get suspicious if I take out such a large sum. I don't know the best way to go about this!
How is everyone else handling Christmas shopping now that you are married? Any suggestions?

Do you still have a credit card that is only in your name? Then you can just make sure that you get to the bill first. That's how I bought DH's birthday gifts this year.
I am buying all of DHs gifts on my credit card. He actually balances our books and I have told him to not look specifically at the purchases for the next month.
Honestly, though, I would take out more cash than you need and just say you are buying holiday gifts.

Ditto PPs. I take care of the money for us so when DH is shopping for presents he usually just tells me not to look at the account during a certain time frame. It works for us.
But I agree with either buying in on your own credit card if you have one or taking out a few smaller increments of cash.
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
We kept our personal checking accounts to use for things that are only for one of us, say for having my nails done for me/going to the movies and grabbing a sub with a friend for him. We each get a certain amount transferred into those accounts each week, and it's ours to use as we like, to save, spend, etc.
For this case, I would let him know that you are planning on taking out a large amount to go shopping with, because you are trying to watch what you spend on gifts, it's easier with cash, etc.
